One of the sticky meats.

Jeez.  It took a while but I finally found the "other" sticky meat for this project.

At least now I can get the wheels laced and mounted to something, then get the bike into a rolling chassis.

I don't know why, but that size tire was scarce in the US.  I had to look high and low for it with suppliers (who were out of stock) and ended up finding in on eBay.

The advantage that you have posting on the site is Glenn and everyone else benefits by the old threads remaining viable when you need to see somethjng some one is showing.  When they leave the list due to changing interests, injury, or heaven forbid death, then those images are maintained by the list for tbe goid of all owners.  Additionally, you do not have to worry about maintaining those photos on that hosting site in perpetuity, also you do not have to fear of using up your storage space on a hosting site and needing to spend more for the growing space.  Glenn can maintain the integrity of the images and threads and with good search tools newbies can be directed to old threads. Google's advanced search capabilities are pretty good if you are good at refining your search terms.

SO, I agree with Glenn's philosophy, it is sound advice.  No repeat of this issue if other image hosting sites follow the path that Photo_ucket has taken.

How many old threads you bookmarked for reference on this site or other sites are now rendered all but useless?
I run into dead links on sites I am searching for answers to questions I have or on topics I am attempting to learn about. That is frustrating.  It is tough when someone has done the engineering for a mod and used photos to save a "thousand words".
It is disappointing when that happens.  Some members can recreate the thread photos importing them, but it can be a huge amount of work for lengthy photo intensive threads.

My $0.02  or more on Glenn's recommendation.  ;D

Wiring the munit this week. Then tuning and first ride hopefully by the weekend.
Need to update my post, but photobucket has now rendered itself useless.

Damned photobucket! (I just went back through your build thread.)  I swapped to flickr but Glenn is happy having people post their images using the attachment function (below). I am looking forward to seeing your progress pics.

I have ran into that issue when trying to buy a popular tire for another bike a few years ago. The issue in that case, and likely in yours as well, is the tires are ran in batches and for high volume tires the factory runs  batches for the forecasted needs expected and they go out to distributors for distribution to dealers in various countries, depending upon which markets that factory serves.  In my case they simply did not anticipate demand and as a result they run out and distributors place smaller orders as fall approaches.  You will see tires on sale in late summer and fall because they are trying to close out and move remaining inventory.  Because we all want fresh tires.  Often high demand/volume tires do not go on sale as often...
FWIW.
David.  Nice looking hub!  Devin has a nice product... Thanks Cal for talking him into doing the rear hub... The front hubs being setup for a certain discs limits use for those wishing to go a different direction.  R6 hub like FunJimmy did used CBR600 F3/4 rotors with the stock R6 or later FZ6 calipers...if the hub is setup for GSXR discs it is a issue if both are not with the same configuration as a GSXR disc.  I don't recall but am thinking Devin's front hub is setup for the GSXR, but I can be (often) wrong.

Don, any cool drone footage with bike or other stuff...  the drone you bought is a well engineered product, thus its huge popularity.  Hope that addiction has not taken over.

This bike is using a 2013 GSXR 600 Front with a Cognitomoto hub.

No drone for me.  I think you might be thinking of Bryan aka BLAC and his drone footage from Iceland earlier in the year.

I think you hit the nail on the head about tires being run in batches and seasons.  Right now Bridgestone is offering a $25 rebate per tire on its popular sport models.

Some actual work on the project!

My buddy Dave mounted the front tire and got all the donor parts together for the rear disc hub, so we can mount that beefier tire.

I detabbed the frame, so the next to come will be some light fabrication (mounts for the oil cooler, rear tank mount, seat and gussets, front fender, relocation of the tank petcock bung).

Thanks!

The Cognitomoto hub (once laced up) is a plug and play using the other stock wheel components.

Those wheels do look sooo nice. I may of missed it, but will you need to run spaced out sprockets with that wide rear?
I'm thinking of running the same front size but probably 3.5" rear, my research concluded that everyone seems to think it's plenty wide enough and would suit the rest of the set up.

You can get an offset sprocket kit for the front and rear sprockets. Cognitomoto has them.

Bout time! Good to see you were actually getting some work done while I was sweating buckets in AZ the last week. I know you have a lot of stuff going on but this is one that I would really like to see done.

You can get an offset sprocket kit for the front and rear sprockets. Cognitomoto has them.
Is that what you're using?
I have the front from Cognito, and a 78' CB750 rear hub that's 10mm wider. I prob won't use them with a 3.5 rim and 130 or 140 tyre. (Tire)
