I bought shorter shocks but were too short.  So last night I tore down all the shocks and soaked the rust in acid and got them all cleaned up.  I had 3 pair to piece parts from.  Found two good dampners and went from there.   Had to ream out base spring retainers to slide over different hydraulic tube.  Got them to assemble properly. Now I will take them apart again and powder coat cover and springs.  The shocks are a mix of 74K and 76SS models.  76 hydraulics and 74 springs, collars, covers and retainers.

I finished up most of fabrication and fitment.  Time for the tear down and a ton of sandwich bags. :) :)

Good question.  I've never tried to rebuild stock shocks.  I'm not sure what the correct spring rate would be for you and your bike.
The ones you link to are apparently made for a Progressive shock, so (ideally) you'd need to know how their shocks are designed relative to a stock shock.

I'd recommend just buying a pair of Hagons.  I know that saying buy versus make your own does not have as much appeal to you, but suspension is one of the most critical components of comfort and safety.

That sounds like a better idea in the long run.  I won't need them till final assembly.  Start saving the coin now.

Over the weekend, I did a bunch of body work along with some tear down.  I primered up a bunch of stuff to be painted at a later date.  I also started the last bit of fabrication on the fairing this evening.

My brain is still trying to wrap itself around that front cowl.  I haven't seen many front fairings/cowl/windscreens with that angle of attack.

Tonight i finished up the fab work on the sheet metal for the fairing.  Mounted it to the headlight mounting bolts.  Pretty sturdy.  Contemplating a bottom mount off the lower tree pinch bolts.  Talked to my buddy who does fiber glass about pulling carbon fiber pieces off these masters.  Pretty happy with it over all now that is mounted with the headlight recessed the way I visioned it.

This evening I blocked down all the sheet metal with 180 and reprimed.  Smooth as a baby's behind now.  The tank was pretty straight, but I was surprised how much ripple was in the tank simply from the forming process.  The K tanks I have done were not as bad in that regards.  This F tank was not really noticeable to the eye, but you could feel it when I was blocking.  So now the primer can cure till final paint.  Sand it one more time with 500 and spray.

This weekend I will fabricate the lower fairing mount and begin the mud work on faring, after a bit of work with it on the English wheel. 

Talked to a powdercoater today.  He is getting 325 for the frame and swing arm in black.  May opt to paint it after all.  Need that money for some shocks. ;D

A question for those knowledgeable on the subject.  I am contemplating in Comstars.   Are they interchangeable with little or no hassle?  Any info on the wheels of concern?
