Borrowed a 4’ X 8’, vee nose, enclosed trailer from a good friend. I wanted a small, enclosed rig for a 4 hour trip this coming weekend (taking my 1970 cb750K0 to the Cobble Beach Concours). Spent two days power washing, cleaning out the “mouse house” stink and making it safe! Loose wheel bearings, missing “bering buddy” caps, burned out lights, bad grounds, flapping fenders, and a broken spring! Even did a bit of sanding and painting. Screwed in a wheel chock and added a couple of tie downs that are actually fastened to the frame (through the floor). What a slob! Guy owes me a lunch!

At first I thought you were talking about the bike, I thought holy crap that thing wasn't even close to showing.
.............After my publick edumakashun wore off I realized that it was the trailer you were talking about. I always try to return borrowed things better than when I got them, you done good.

Good luck at the show and dont forget to take pics.

Nice job. I have done almost the same thing to a borrowed trailer before. I didn't want to have a problem when I was using it. I also like to leave it better than I got it and I figured if I needed it again it wouldn't be a problem. 8)

Last weekend I finally got the transmission out of my daughter's Jetta (A.K.A. Hitler). This weekend the fun continues. Timing chain is a real PITA on that thing, ran out of cuss words. Used all the ones I know in both Spanish and English at variable volume and combinations. Guess I am going to need to learn another language to finish it up!

Anybody who has worked on one of these 5 cylinder jobs, I'm open for any guidance.

Scrap metal dealer mate, and just remember, VW are sh1t........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Joe, sorry but Terry is right on this one. They are a fine car as long as the only thing you open is the door or trunk anything after that is a nightmare.  No matter what you are working on there at least 3 or 4 unrelated things to remove and most of them take a special VAG tool #ou81too or some such thing! After working on Hitler's revenge I have come to understand that VAG stands for Volkswagon  Audi Garbage. Plus ALL the information for these things is top secret stuff and not for the common man to know.............but other than that I really like this car. NOT!

Found out today it's going to cost at least $300 to fix the A/C on the clown car.....
This is why I didn't fix it 4 years ago when it crapped out,but Mrs spotty has decreed it will be fixed, so fixed it give a fcukwill be but I couldn't give a fcuk about it
The brakes however...... severely warped discs and severely reduced effectiveness, that needs looking at
And the there's the auto trans slips a bit when hoofing it up the hill I'm cursed to live on, that could do with some love
Oh yeah, the cracked rocker cover that sprays oil onto the exhaust manifold, doesn't bother me but it does worry onlookers when you pull up at the lights and clouds of oil smoke pour out from under the hood, looks cool but.....

Ah well, one thing at a time
i blame Terry

Changed the oil/filter on my 1980 FORD F350 plow truck. Mounted the Meyers Plow, added some hyd. fluid. It leaks a bit (self lubricating), but the whole thing just keeps on running! Won’t need it for a few months, but beautiful cool day, perfect for the job. Picture is typical January, 60 miles N.W. of Toronto.

Thanks, Terry! The fenders and doors are all blistering rust again (replaced in 1999). Rotting fuel tank, lines and a few hoses recently. It pretty much stays on the property now. Not sure how much longer it will last, but I keep it rumbling along....... I was working in the Maintenance Dept at a SEARS wharehouse and actually picked it up new, late 1979. 20 years later, as the Regional Property Manager, I ran the demolition of the building. Bought it at an “Employee Sale”, with the Plow. It’s been at our Farm ever since...... Served us well and it even hauled my Legend Car, for a few years!

Drove by the Volkswagen plant in TN this past Thursday.
Wouldn't it need to be an original bug to be a Hitler's car (from that era)?
Must be a reason for Volkswagen being the cheapest of the VW/Audi/Porsche lineup... ;)

Not mine, but I looked at my buddys 40 ford project. There's not one part or panel that hasn't been tweaked. It's freaking amazing. 392 hemi efi stack injection, 5 speed, Hot Heads, Quick change rear, AC, Heat, chevy water pump, it's got it all.
He put in water pump lube and no antifreeze just for testing. It ate through the new hoses and peppered his powder coated frame from droplets blowing back onto the frame. It got seriously flushed and a proper mix of antifreeze was added.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Raf, I call it Hitler's revenge for a couple of reasons.  First of all my language is English, but I have depleted ALL the cuss words I know plus I have even resorted to re-using most of those words with an accent! I speak a little spanish and ALL the spanish cuss words have been used up also. Sometimes I get a little pissed off working on this thing, just a little.

Next is the oxymoron of "German engineering" . If there is such a thing as "German engineering" and it was used to build this car, then it was done for revenge for the U.S. and others kicking the German's asses in WWII! I'll give you an example of the stupidity of this car. The power booster for the brakes gets it's vaccuum from a pump that is driven directly from the timing chain. They fail and leak oil like the Exxon Valdes. It is held in place by 3 screws, however to remove it you must remove the transmission.  The cooler for the transmission is INSIDE THE TRANS so you need to drain the cooling system! But that's just a small portion of what needs to be removed for a simple job. Even more comes off to do the timing chains, like I'm doing.

So I have lovingly named this vehicle Hitler's revenge!

I know, it sucks to be me! Boo hoo hoo.😥

I understand frustration with car repair work...I know it all too well having wrenched on my cars for 35+ years. I used to own a 00 Crown Vic Police Interceptor in plain clothes markings. Pulled the timing cover and valve cover to access the chain. To get passenger side valve/cam cover off you have to drop the driver's side engine mount and remove it so the motor can be tilted over far enough to get the cover off. Fan and AC components are in the way. They changed it 3 or 4 years later I believe.  Chains were fine after all,  noise was misdiagnosed as coming from chain instead of the lifters.  Well, the motor's external top and front and part way down sides got a good cleaning and it needed it. Just a minor nuisance...

Good luck wrapping up the work on Hitler's Revenge.
