Now I'm no stranger to engines or how they work, nor am I far off when it comes to carbs, but that's only been on a couple of cars from the '60s and one from the '70s. I have a simple understanding of them, and I've got a turbo Miata project car. I picked up a (non-running, partially disassembled) 1977 CB750K Four a month or so ago and have been putting it together slowly over the weeks. From what I can tell (by forums and word of mouth), the pod filters I ordered and the 4-to-1 straight pipe I've got put on it aren't exactly compliant with my stock carb setup.

Here's the gist of it: I ordered a 125 main jet and #42 slow jet by recommendation. I've got dyno coils but can't quite figure out how to connect them to the sparks without rednecking the connection from the coils to the plugs, so I resorted to using the stock coils for now. Does anyone have any further recommendations for getting this bike to run well once the filters and jets are here for me to put together? Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read and help!  :)

I'd start with the factory service manual, there's getting it running and getting it running well.  Following the manual almost reads like a how-to and can get you most if not all of the way there if the bike is assembled and completed.

The 125 mains may be too big. I'm running velocity stacks with my 836cc 78' CB750K and the 115 mains I'm running still seem rich. When I tried 125 mains it ran so rich it was bogging at the 5000rpm transition.

Stock is a great baseline to work with before you make any changes, but you don't mention if that's possible -- does it have the stock airbox and exhaust? Once it's running -- and running well -- you can start making changes. You might find it runs best at stock...

Read the "so you want to run pods" at the top of the page. I'm an old fart now but straight pipes were hard to live with and ride with when I was in my 20's. Enjoy.
