So I opened up the K2 carbs tonight and found a few issues...evidence of brass-aluminum corrosion, and carb #3 had a bent float - probably explain why it was the cold cylinder at start up - surprised it wasn’t overflowing at idle. See pics below...

Never touched them!

I may need your help though in extracting the broken one  :-X :-\

I have a spare set of carbs that I am hoping to install tonight and test ride tomorrow morning so will update here with progress.

If the bent looking jet really is bent, the broken jet might have been bent too. Can be why it broke.
Remove the other jets very slow. No quick twist.

Edit: Buy Keihin jets.

Switched the carbs and success!!! - no leaks on start up and test ride showed what I have been missing these last few months - snappy throttle, growl of the HM300s, fast acceleration - got it up to speed on the highway and was not disappointed. Smiling again!! Can’t wait for the next ride :)

Thanks for all the comments they really motivated me.

Post-highway ride

Thank you Treeve! I was over in your neck of the woods on Saturday morning at 8am....did the Blue Hills-Wollaston Beach loop from mine and back to test ride the K2. Passed with flying colours! Next time Ill shoot you a text before I head over. I was back home by 8:30 before the heat hit.

How is your bike coming along? Running yet? Need any parts?  8)

Let me know next time for sure.

The bike is finally running.  I still need to finish the tank and seat, but I have a stock tank and seat on it for now so I can get a few miles on it while i finish.

Right now i am working on tuning.  It has a hanging idle issue I think is likely due to a lean condition, so I am working on that.  Still need to open it up on a highway, but its nice and peppy so far. I am just pumped it didn't grenade on first start up since i did do most of the work    ;D  .

Are the felts on the throttle shafts lubed? That can cause a slow return to idle.

Thank you! Big relief getting it back on the road. Now thinking about tires - what do you like? I always buy BT45 but feel like a change for this bike

Someone recently mentioned putting a new BT-46 on the rear of their CB. Do not recall whom. Would a Google search find reference to BT-46?

BT46: wet road performance improved about 10% by modification/enhancement of sipe design.
At least, that’s the Bridgestone pitch.
