Thanks every one for the well wishes. I had a triple bypass, and am home now recuperating. Walking about a half hour per day. Not totally able to do my transfers, but its encouraging.  The wife is a saint.

Two Drs. both said the heart muscle itself looked good still.  Still on "sternal restrictions" for 4 more weeks. Be careful about picking up, moving, pushing etc.

The 2 stents I had just didn't do the job. I want to get a copy of the repots to see why they switched from stents to the by-pass route. Implication the blockages were advancing quickly.

Thx for thinking of me.

Up to a mile per day, no chest pain. Still a lot of swelling in the legs. Things are looking good.

Got out in the shop finally. Had to swap out the trailer hitch. I had a 4.5" drop. But the trailer rode high in the front. Don't know how much difference it makes, but I didn't like it. I found a drop hitch with a 6" drop. Took a while as most drop hitches reduced their capacity from 350# to 200# TW and 3500# trailer weight to 2000# with that much drop. I found one that had an extra gusset welded in to maintain the capacity at 350 and 3500.

Felt good to get out.  :D

Ron,  glad to hear you are improving...hope you are able to rebuild strength and endurance before winter weather sets in.  Do you have a gym membership or are you going to have long term PT for the recovery period.  You are very blessed to have managed to not have any heart muscle damage.

Frien in Tuscon had a massive heart attack they refer to as widow makers because very few survive such an event.  John has managed to rebuild and strengthen but it was a long road and he has significant heat damage.  He was out for a run and had the heart attack and trash collector found him and was able to get him help in time.  He had no id on him and that was a challenge at first.
John is a retired career Army helicopter pilot and was in very good health....just the ticking time bomb went off day and he had been checked out by cardiologist about 3 months prior with no symptoms or precurssors to a heart issue.

Hi Ron,how are you ?  :)

Thanks Joe and grcamna:
I'm doing fine. Still healing from the bypasses, Takes about an hour  a day of walking and exercising.

The real negative symptoms are still the drop foot from the neuropathy and the bradykinesia (slowed movements) from the Parkinson's. Neither of these are life threatening (other than as a result of a fall or pneumonia), while the heart stuff is. But the heart causes me less trouble on a day by day. I'm back to work 8 hrs day, and the Docs say that's the best thing anyway, staying active.

I miss the "rock steady boxing" classes for the Parkinson's. My sternum needs 12 weeks of babying before returning to harder exercise and punching.

Joe, are you available, with notice, to help us pull Phaedrus's engine, and then replace it? Bruce and I are not up to it ourselves. I'll need to line up another helper as well. Once its out, and on the bench, we'll flip it over, take the lower case off and re goop the sealing surfaces esp around the mainbearing saddles. I'm getting leaks out of the main bearing heavy duty studs I installed and I've been told it because I didn't goop them properly.

We've been doing little things each week to keep the momentum moving forward. My surgery really threw a wrench in the 2016 schedule. We want to be ready for 2017 Ohio Mile.  :D

Keep at it Ron.  :)

Another option is to use some Hondabond ETC below the nuts/around the washers in the opening of the crank studs in the lower case.

IF you do yank the engine PUT A CAM IN IT!!  ;)  You should be getting more out of that engine than what you have so far.

Yeah, I did that with the goop from the outside, and put copper washers on too, That fixed most of it, but there's still a drop or two every outing and I don't want that for my legacy. And there's one I can't get to because of the frame tubes.

No cam this time. Maybe later, I've got a frame kit.

I am looking at some better pipes though.

Hey Ron,

Absolutely I'm available with a little bit of notice.  Been travelling for work a bit and heading to Atlanta Sunday for a few days but after that I'm free.  Just let me know when you're thinking.  I can easily round up a second set of hands if you need...just let me know.

Glad to hear you're getting back at it.

Cheers, Joe

Thanks Joe:
It will be purely at your convenience, and possibly (probably) later than sooner. My garage is heated though.

We unloaded the bike today to start making the preps. Ideally, we'll get it out some morning, do the re-gooping, and get it back in later that day. To avoid making it a multi day affair. But its not always in my control. If we find something other than run of the mill, it may be out one day, and back in later on.
I always liked this 90° profile shot:

Pulled the tank and frame rail kit:

After having sat alone on the trailer for 6+ weeks, the trailer rail was covered with oil below the engine. Dang! I mean, after a good hard run at the drags, there was no oil leak obvious for a few weeks.  Then as stated, after neglect for many weeks, there is oil dripping from the left frame rail, the main bearing stud tips, a film all over the front of the engine (which must have happened when last run and just not noticed till now.  A close examination shows oil pan is dry, the two large oil passage plugs have oil dripping from them, the oil filter cover has oil dripping from it.

The top end seems dry, though the front of the base gasket may be wet, running down the face, or the case seem is leaking and blowing up to the gasket... jeesh.

Anyway, I'm going in and regoop everything.

Ron...........Its great to hear you are on the road to being a 'new man' :) :) :)

I've been traveling quite a bit so not always keeping up with all the different news on this board. My brother had a 3-bypass episode almost to the same date as yours. I just returned from a visit with him in Atlanta and make the same wish to you............Please attend all of the PT sessions ;) Each one is likely to add a year to your newly-extended life on this earth.

Regarding the bike..........Oil on the bottom got there from above............and they all get fogged in the front from high-rpm runs. It tends to show a few weeks after sitting. I think we sometimes forget how often we 'washed' our prized bikes back in the day.

Keep the progress reports coming........and tell us how cute your PT guru is :) :) :)

Thanks for that, Dennis:

Committed to my PT. I've spent more time on that these least several years than motorcycles. My PT gals are cute, that helps.

Oil from above is maybe the place where the studs are (I changes to main bearing studs from the stock bolts) inside the engine. At the seam split level, then wicking its way to the bottom of the stud, then blowing over the bottom of the engine. We'll see.

I bought some 4-2 exhausts from CycleX. Version #5s on this page.  http://www.cyclexchange.net/Honda%20SOHC%20High%20Performance%20Exhaust%20Page.htm

Ken was candid about them, not to expect any power increase. I'm OK with that, what I'm wanting now is something more practical than the Marshall I have on it now.

#1. Oil change without having the oil puke all over the header. Since I have to change the oil every event, the mess was really getting old.
#2. Having the muffler(s) tuck in to the bike more. The Marshall points outwards in a ridiculous way.
#3. Easy removal of the mufflers for cleaning the rear wheel.

While I have the engine out I can remove the spigot style exhaust mount and prep for the later style clamshells with drawdown clamps. I'll have to buy some of those late model clamps, maybe eBay.

Wow.  I take some time off from reading threads a lot happens!

Glad to hear you're improving, Ron and back now to working on the bike.  I hope you also had the foresight to tell the doctors to put in a turbo switch while they had you opened up?   :)
