After five months of tear down, clean, polish polish polis polish, assemble, ask stupid questions, spend money spend money, assemble assemble,spend money spend money....I have my K6 running pretty smooth and looking great.

Shifting while holding 7 to 8000 rpm is damn nice, 1200rpm just a little bubbly. 

The restored stock pipes with stock baffles sound sweet as I wind through the gears

But now, at idle, I can hear this f'kn noise tink tink tink in the engine that I think is the cam chain and it just aggravates the piss out of me:

Is it normal?
Is it a harbinger of bad things coming my way?
Is it F'kn Robert Marley  come to warn me of three spirits?

Just saying the pursuit of perfection will drive ya to drink.

What I really hate is the "holier than thou" types on this site who ride crappy old bikes around pretending that they're something really special rather than just bland, mass produced commuters of no real interest to anyone, and look down their noses at guys who they secretly envy for being lucky enough to have new bikes.

Geez, if it wasn't for the guys who buy new bikes now, there'd be no old used bikes for cheap bastards like you guys to buy when their values drop below your "1 dollar per square foot" budget, then bull#$%* us all about the cool cafe or bobber you're gonna build, when your personal mechanical knowledge and financial situation doesn't extend past performing a spark plug change that you'll invariably fcuk up anyway. 

The good thing is, eventually someone else here will benefit from your selling your "unfinished project" when you realize that you really don't have a clue what you're doing, and (hopefully) you run off and buy another brand of bike, or better still a crappy car, and leave us all the hell alone...................  :P

I lost interest (frankly drifted off to sleep) at the point where I snipped the quote off above.  There's nothing wrong with new bikes.  Just some of the a$$h0les that ride them.  I don't know what it is like down under, but in the states if you aren't riding Harley brand, wearing an officially licensed Harley logo jacket, and a Harley jockstrap, then you aren't officially considered to be a "biker" by many of the mindless Harley-tards.   I find that many of the folks who have fallen prey to the Harley marketing scheme are generally a bunch of pu$$ie$ who trailer their bikes to the next poserama event.  I choose to ride an old bike because I like the styling of 70s bikes and I enjoy learning how to work on them... something that the bike mechanics in my local shops don't even know how to do.

Terry you have over 7,600 posts on this site.  You are aware that it is a site dedicated to old bikes right?  Did you just stumble onto this site 5 years ago thinking it was about new bikes... begin writing posts... and never look up from your keyboard to realize that you aren't on Harley.com?  With all those posts, surely you have an army of pals who will break their fingernails jumping to your defense...(Bring it fellahs).  I have a life to live, so I don't have time to read your other 7,599 posts, but this one makes me wonder if you've missed the point of this site?  :-*

I do however, love the way your bike looks:

  Tim in Ohio - membership here is easy and open to most everyone. Everyone has their personal reasons to be here, often beyond an interest in sohc bikes. Sometimes it's best to ignore posts or posters you dislike or disagree with.  I try to do that. ;)
  I would never stroke TIA but you have to smile at a "holier than thou" post about "holier than thou" members in a Shameless Rant and Insult post boost thread.  :)

I'm just trying to do a little harmless ranting and insulting meself... Just like TIA.  I support his right to rant and insult me on a thread like this. He is likely just cranky because he realizes that the oil coolers he fabs and sells look like a$$.  I'm just sayin'...  ;)

Well said, Terry. To a certain extent this could be said of devotees of any old motorcycle brand/type/model. Let's face it, if a bike was crap when it was first built it is still crap now, and no amount of 'looking through rose tinted glasses' will change that.
