Ok so, last night I gearing up to do my fork seals (that I hadn't bought yet.) I do loads of reading on the site and started getting pretty scared. What with all this talk of broom handles and all that business. SO so so.... I get out to the garage and find my appropriate tools and get down to business. I pull the bleeder screws out and hardly and fluid came out at all. It was grim. I grabbed the lower fork and pushed up until a small "gob" of something came out and then maybe oh, let's say 3 or 4 tablespoons of fluid came out. I put the bleeder back in and pulled the allen/hex whatever, out of the bottom of the "right" fork. with little to no argument, it came off. Then I move to the left one, which it seemed was the one everyone has trouble with. Since my wheels and caliper and all that are off, I begin to perform the same task I just did. Uh, it came apart easier than the other side. I'm not really sure what to say. Maybe someone  has already been in there? I don't know. Anyway, I went down the the local shop to retrieve my good as new wheels and tires and decided to just give him my business instead of schmebay.
I tell him I get paid at midnight and that I'll gladly pay him tomorrow for a cheeseburger today. He chuckled and accepts. I get the # for a local guy that's gonna pro-tune/ set up my carbs for my 'new' 4-1 Kerker pipes and then talked with a fella that pulled up on a 67 Norton Commando 850. I figured I wasted enough time and headed out. Well, what can I say, we're slow today, so here's what I did. It's like 80 out so I'm gonna reassemble her tonight!

Honestly I have never placed and o-ring chain in kersoene and NOT had the rings fall in pieces all over the floor.

Boil in gear lube? What?!?!?!

Not second guessing you, but I'd be hip to read about that if you have a source.

Never too old to learn.  ;D

This ISN'T the shameless thread boys.
After talking to "Industrial cafe" last night, with some guidance on my axle assemblies. hahahaha I got it put back together. Now I have to adjust my chain, add oil to the forks, install my brake stuff, and do this damn seat.

Listen manchicken. You're not gonna get a front fender if you don't knock it off.
Thanks on the comments, even if it is about my dirt. haha.
That's not the stock paint on my 77. I believe the tank is from like 68-72? I'm not sure. I like the brown metal flake, but I don't want  the stripes so I'll have to sacrifice the paint all together.

Ohhh, see, I like the stripes... I think they're kind of sexy in a streamlined gold/white/black sort of way.  (then again I damn near pulled teeth to get the original pinstriping on my tank...)

There's always truck bedliner with a distinct "Tank Girl" theme...

Well, I've got alot of possibilities right now. I know these things

1. It needs to be flat finish

2. Black, brown, and "frankenstein" green are some of my favorite colors

3. My seat cushion is almost positively going to be zebra print

4. I'm so feckin' broke that it hurts. EVERYWHERE. (my hair is nappy)

5. I have 2 cans flat black paint in rattle cans at the house

So, that said. I had thought about flat finish  dark red, and the green, but i don't know.
Black is default and I can always change it later.

What do you think?

ask martino about rattle-can flat black, he's a fan and did his bobber in it. Scratch it? Repsray! $6.

as long as you're set on her being a ratty, nappy bike, go for it. :)

I think that black and maroon/red primer would be tops.

Could even do the wheels and spokes that way too. Lots of work though.

Broke? I'm so broke I can't afford to pay attention! Badda Bing!!  ;D

I think primer brown with replacement OEM style stripes would look cool. But long term, primer is not meant to be exposed to the elements and metal can rust. But ya could primer it and cover with flat clear rattle can.

Before you mentioned the black hole in your wallet where $$ use to be I was thinking heavy 'flake retro root beer color AND factory stripes. Giving it "is that original color?" looks. Whatever ya do the cool thing is these are always works in progress, well, except mec's. His is perfect... PERFECT I TELL YOU!!!!!!!

Why do I have the uneasy feeling you  have a collection of zebra bike pix just sitting around Havoc?  :-\  :D
