Are you sure? Any chance you could try to take it off for us?  I want this pipe but I don't want to buy a pipe that needs to be removed every time I change the oil. I know his earlier pipes you couldn't get the filter off.

I'm pretty sure.  This is the current generation pipe.  I am out of town through this week, but I will check and confirm.

The seat is apart and cut down to fit the Super Sport gas tank.  Now, it's off to the upholsterer for additional foam shaping and re-attachment of the leather cover.

I'm also swapping out the finned tappet covers for some billet ones made by Joker Machine.  The height of the finned covers was too close for comfort to the gas tank.

Also, I received word from Rob aka Voxonda that his pre-load adjusters have been shipped.

I just got off the phone with the upholsterer.  It looks like they can re-use the orignal seat to re-cover the shortened seat, so that will save some coin, and they should have it ready later this week, too.

I also checked fitment of the 1978 CB750F front fender and its seems to match up okay.  I'll be taking the fender down to my painter Bondo this weekend, to get him started on matching the paint to the rest of the bike.

The seat has been re-covered and shipped so I should have it back on the bike this weekend.  They re-used my existing cover so it only cost $50 to re-shape the foam and re-upholster it.

Off to the painter this weekend to get the front fender in the works.

Small update:

Finned tappet covers swapped out for Joker Machine covers.

Seat re-upholstered and re-mounted.

Looking good. I have those pre load adjusters on my bike as well. Great quality!

I'm getting excited.  The bike is ready for engine break-in and tuning.  Then I have to work out some additional details:

Fender -- getting media blasted and prepped for paint.

Seat -- the upholterer spotted some cracks in the seat pan.  It will hold up for now, but I will probably replace the seat.  I have a spare from Ian at Cafe Seat and Tank that I'm thinking of using.  I just ordered some of Frankenstuff's new rubber seat mounts.

Gas tank -- the filler lid needs to be adjusted.  It was too close to the hinge and the paint is rubbing and cracking (it will need a touch up).

Exhaust -- ceramic powdercoating, once I have the engine sorted.

Initial break-in of the motor on the Dyno is complete.  Now I just need to ride it a couple of hundred miles and change the oil.  It starts right up and runs strong.  I'll have to shoot a quick video of it (pictures or it didn't happen) and get it posted.

Now I have an electrical gremlin.  After the bike is running a few minutes, my headlight is dimming, and also flickers when you fiddle with the ignition switch.  The charging system IS working.  I'm going to swap out my ignition switch with a spare and see if that fixes the problem.   

Frankenstuff's seat mounting rubbers are on their way, so I will also try mocking up the spare sheet metal seat I have to see if I want to replace my current seat.  My current seat needs some adjustment where it meets the tank (too close on the side edge of the rear of the tank, but just right in the middle where the "gap" is).
