Day after Christmas, I performed a full jerry rig test and got the bike running for the first time.
Tank's not ready, seat's not ready, don't have a battery yet, but I can still start him up!
Today, I tested the start button switch. And it worked!!!
It would run the starter, but couldn't get spark. I traced it to a bad red wire connection at one of the connectors. Being that this is my first time, spending time getting familiar with wiring, using a multimeter to check for continuity everywhere, and just slowly allowing myself to learn, and not being frustrated has been very helpful.
Considering I'm a web developer and spend a lot of my day writing Javascript, the problem solving skills translate very well. Just as important as problem solving skills, are the skills of identifying
what the problem actually is.
So, I'll be unraveling some electrical tape on the loom, and fixing that wire and connector, and run another test this weekend. Might be an expensive fix... maybe a whole 80 cents for a foot of red 18 gauge.

Happy New Year everyone!
