Put some air in the tires and ran it down the farm roads.
Did an oil change when we got back.

Got my new vacuum bleeder today so did the clutch and front brakes on the zzr
No result on the clutch so it seems the m/c is probably shagged
Minor result on the brakes so probably some air hiding in there somewhere ( new lines)

Being all enthusiastic I got the vmax up on the lift and flushed the fluid on the clutch and front brakes , all went well and the from brakes are now rock hard, just how they should be

Changed the oil while it was up there and just realised I forgot to change the filter
 Bollocks

Will have to do that tomorrow and balance the carbs while I'm at it
i blame Terry

Fired up my ever faithful Freedom Green K4 750 Friday after its long winter slumber. Did not do any 'winterization', just parked it.

Hey Eric...you didnt drain the carbs or tank? Thats amazing in this day with ethanol fuel.

Nope,I just parked it after a ride in late September or early October and walked away from it to finish the season on another bike. I pulled the battery when the season was officially over and kept it on a tender. I did not fiddle with or start the bike or anything all winter. Rode it again today and all is fine running wise but had to cut it short as it started to rain. Always been lucky being lazy I guess. Might drop a carb bowl or two though just to take a peek inside. Have to fire up some big Suzuki's next - fingers crossed !!

Picked this up yesterday.  Cleaned the front caliper today and swapped on the ducktail... Then took her for a spin.  This summer's rider.

Nice K1 Nick. Sounds like a runner right out of the box then without having to do muck work. Did the PO restore it or is it mostly original ? You have had them in the past, very nice runners.  Is your new CBX up and running also ?  Save some nice bikes out there for us lowlifes  ;D ;D

Fixed the horn on my 1972 CB750.  Was on eBay looking for used ones, only to see scores of non-working ones going for 15 to 25 bucks.  Saturated at that, I came to the forums here to see if anyone has fixed these before.  Hmmm, a few threads.  OK, I'll try it.  Took the horn apart, cleaned it up a bit, played around with how tight to screw everything back together, and suddenly had a working horn again.  A bit of touch up paint, and I'll install it in a day or two.

Hey Georg, how are you mate? If that's a late model K0, it will probably have a K0 disc on a K1 hub, I've found a couple like that that were built near the end of the production run, when Honda was just slapping together what parts they had. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

She is a runner as the PO stored it w 100AV gas. I did pull the carbs yesterday and cleaned them in the Ultrasonic cleaner. Tires have low miles with the paint lines still on them. They are 8 yrs old. I assumed they were new but after talking to the PO he said otherwise. As for the K1, it's original minus the 341s and hand controls. I have the original hand controls as he gave them to me. I'll post a few more pics once I get her together.

As for the CBX, she is still sitting in the garage and a non runner.

2 rides today to finalize carb jetting.
First a shorter of 70km. Back to garage, tank off and raised the needles 1 notch.

Back on the road and enjoyed a 200km ride, mostly in legal speeds except when testing how much better it pulls with higher needles when twisting from 4000rpm on 5:th gear. Same power up to almost 8000 rpm!

When back home changed main jets, 1 step smaller from 147.5 to 145.

Look forward to next ride cruising around in legal speeds, low fuel consumption, 53mpg.
Probably less if not twisting to check main jets! :D

55mpg is possible if riding 70-90kmh (43-56mph) ;)

Those 147.5 Mikuni jets were earlier mounted in my stock K6 Keihin carbs with pods, 836cc, ported head and cam. Ran fine in the 80's. Not too rich! 3 long tourings in Europe.
Same jets too rich on my TMR32 carbs , same engine, now 1000cc  ;)  Strange.... Different fuel 30-35 years ago.

Didn't do anything to my bike other than order a new battery as the existing one doesn't want to hold a charge. A new Bikemaster Platinum AGM will arrive Monday.

I did a couple things to the 750F3 I bought for my buddy a while back, a fresh seatcover and new superbike bar and new grips

Red got rebuilt PD carburetors and I took her for a spin.  Holy #$%*, what a difference!  She will rev to 8 000 in second gear and third gear and that's how far I got, she is too fast for my local roads.  No more problem accelerating in 5th.

Still want to get a 78 F air box and reroute throttle cables and figure out an adapter for the petcock, but what a difference.

Just be careful when you get that F airbox mate, your K series sidecovers won't quite fit (the K7/8 and F2/3 airbox is slightly wider) and if you give them a whack to pop the knobs thru the rubbers, you'll crack them. Don't ask me how I know......... ;D

Replaced the Fork Oil for the first time. Looked more like mud than oil. There also was not very much in the forks.

I'm waiting on new brake pads and shoes to arrive. I might have to stop riding for awhile until new brakes get here. My stopping power is fading and the brakes are getting loud.

Thanks, Terry.

Found a shiny cargo plate in the local parts shed.
A few fasteners, some cuts and a couple of holes later, got it fixed to the fj.  Drilled a couple more holes to get hooks through.

Project cost $38 and two (drill) bits.

Yesterday I installed my new AGM battery in the 750 and hooked up the maintenance charger to top it off. Today I pulled the advancer and cut a coil off each spring. Tomorrow I redo the timing, double check the point gap then deep dive the ignition wiring. Hopefully by the weekend I will get out for the first ride of the year

Changed plugs on my K6 again. It had new Denso X24ES-U to verify fuel consumption after NGK D8EA that replaced another set of Denso a little bit fouled by carb jets testing.

Now Denso IX24 to give my old and not much used Iridium plugs another ride when carbs work much better.
Denso Iridium is a resistor plug.  NGK cap on that will end up in 5+5kohm.

I'm eager to see the result when weather turn back to rideable without snow, hail and rain I had had the last days.

The tests of carb jets is finalized with a sync.

Now ride tests of plugs. A 100km long ride in legal speeds, refill tank and see how much fuel. Check how plugs will look like.

Edit: Not worth the 4-5 x price than std Denso X24ES-U.
Maybe better with 0 ohm caps if found.
