In some brainless moment I made the shop floor from old deck boards - and keep loosing stuff in cracks all the time.  Magnetic stick is my best friend.

set the cam timing on the 450 (anyone who's done this knows what kind of gauntlet this is to do.)

Installed the tensioner.

450 should be up and running super soon then on to the 750 once parts start arriving. ;D

Installing the cam chain & setting that cam timing in the CB/CL450 is a Real chore..,more so when you don't do it a lot.I did it once back in 96'... that's what made it hard because I was a first timer;I bent a valve and had to get another one for my customer asap.  ::)  ;) Good Job

5 minute home made valve spring compressor.  Store bought ones just weren't good enough.
8" C-clamp $10
PVC reducer $.50

Reducer stepped inside and fits the end of the c-clamp

Trimmed and sanded

Compressed

That is brilliant, I love it!

Nothing much to report for my bike today, I ordered a tail toolbox off ebay the other day, waiting for that to arrive. Sold one of two trucks I promised I'd get rid of before I started working on the bike, and am watching the snow shrink away from my work space (yard) bit by bit.

Got the MC cleaned and gently honed with 2000 grit sanding paper roll, cleaned more hardware (I can't figure out where all the h/w is coming from, never ending)

Rode the K5 about 80 miles Sunday.
Discovered it's time to replace/rebuild the solenoid.
I had to kick it to life for the first time in a looong time.

The roads were cleaned by the rain and we have been in the 50's for a couple of days, so I fired up a 650 and took a 10 mile ride.
I've had a nasty cold this week and my balance wasn't as good as it should be yet so a short ride was enough to help end the winter funk.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
550 Snowbike -Somebody had to do it.
