Frank, my F2 is powder coated and I come up with four different dimensions ranging from 1.006 to 1.016. How much clearance is already built in? More than .010"? If they measure 1.016 or more I'm good to go.

I'm ok with black fasteners.

They are mostly between 1.008 and 1.013.
 So you. Could sand it down around .006 and they should fit. It should go pretty quick with emery cloth with a  back and forth motion.

 I can make bigger ones, next run..

I'm sure they'll be ok as they are. Rather have them tight anyways, so don't mind a bit of sanding

Kraut, it's not critical where you cut, here's how I hacked mine out, I left room for the ignition switch at the front, as long as you can remove the cam cover you're good to go. I managed to cut mine without removing the carbs, clearance at the carbs is good, cuts are nice and crooked, doesn't matter. I had to sand off some of the powder coat, 60 grade paper 1" wide with gaff tape backing, was quite easy, Franks joiners are a perfect fit. Hope this helps. Will add a pic of the finished product later.

Got mine yesterday, nice work. I thought there was something missing because the box was so small and light, you could almost call them cute.

can someone give me the measurements for the cut, my engine is out of the frame and in pieces and I would like to cut before I send it of to the powder coaters.

Good old hack saw mate, I wanted to remove the least amount of metal as pos so the gaps would be as small as possible. Hence, I have "hacked" the frame.

The reason the cuts are angled is because that's the only way the hack saw would fit in the gaps, with the engine out the cuts would have been easy to do straight up.

it looks like from the photo that the 225mm dimension could actually be a little shorter, how close are the clamps to the carbs?

Yeah you're right, it's pretty tight but no fouling at all with the throttle. I'll post a pic or two soon, just waiting for the paint to dry on the H section.

You should be able to cut the front at 3 1/2 back from the lower weld at the front tube..should allow room for old style ignitionswitch bracket. The rear cut can be 5 1/4 to 6 1/4 from back weld. If carb clearance is tight.. Only the VN 29,s that I know of... The cuts could be even further to rear. Behind the carbs.
