Greg,
i think the rough plan now, but check with bikerbart, is for it to come up I-5 from Portland to (depends on riders) Seattle, Everett or Mount Vernon areas, then head east, probably over 20, but hwy 2 is an option (again, depends on riders)  once riders hit 97, they'll take it north across the border and onto the BC area riders, with a few lower 48'ers in tow i imagine....BC riders can take over from there and eventually get to Seawebs place.
For the N WA riders, coming down to Mt Vernon, and joining in the trek east and north into BC might be a cool loop.
BUT, get a hold of BikerBart...hes the guy....i'm just a soldier in the SOHC4 army.  8)

I might be more helpfull on the Alberta/BC  end of things then.  This is a little closer to where i live and it seems we have only one Alberta rider comitted.  And i don't need much prodding to take a trip into Montana.

Greg
I don't want it to go like a motorcycle, I want it to go like a rocket!

If time permits I may be in for the complete WA to my place, perhaps a ride out to Long beach as well. That way it will touch the West Coast Ocean for real!

Well, it would be quite possible and not a lot out of the way to run IT from Portland to Astoria and over the bridge into WA, up to Aberdeeen and over....definitely a nicer, although longer ride rather than up 5 to SeaTac...Astoria's own Nick@lockitup has expressed some interest, if he's not out on the water

Guys,

Hope this doesn't mess with you but we had 2 seperate PNW topics going and it wasn't easy to keep things in perspective so I decided to merge them into 1 topic. They should be sorted and merged according to each of the post's dates with posts from each thread intermingled.

I'm able to take IT from an Alberta rider and deliver IT to Montana.  The trouble is it appears that there isn't anybody committed to the Alberta portion.  the proposed route from BC to Montana looks to cross the border at Eureka, Montana.  Where is the drop point in Montana?  I too would like to know the when part as well.

I've been thinking the Coutts/Sunburst area...don't want to go much further east than that, theres' also the Rexford/Eureka area thats a little closer to Idaho..but..just waitin on someone who wants to say when and where...

They way it's looking (to me anyway), Bonners Ferry or Eureka is the closest to me that IT will be -- and that is 350 miles+/- from here plus when you look at that region, you have B.C., Idaho and Montana within a very short range. Calgary doesn't really fit into that area... there is an interested member (GregK??) in South Eastern BC (not sure extaclty where he is) that has said "And i don't need much prodding to take a trip into Montana."

If I don't get to carry IT, I won't be too broken up about it... If I can help relay IT, great! but am not interested in spending a couple days with IT.

Darcy,

Looks like the solution to your situation would be to find more riders and get "IT" closer to you  ;) Routes are open for change as long as we can keep the relay going! There is plenty of time for your area and hopefully our guys can enlist more riders.

OK guys, get the word out! We can't let Darcy down  ;D

Well here's the deal...theoretically, some folks from the N. Dakota/Minnesota/Wisconsin area are gonna take IT up into Canada, or some folks from the Manitoba/ Saskatchewan area are gonna come down into the States to get IT from the folks in the N. Dakota/Minnesota/Wisconsin area, then bring it over to Montana thru the Manitoba/ Saskatchewan/Alberta provinces (see, I know they're not States  :D) so my thinking was the Coutts/Sunburst area would be an easier "inlet" to the States from that side. I can certainly see how Bonner's Ferry would be closer to you and I wouldn't expect you to ride all the way across Alberta to grab it from Saskatchewan, then bring it into Montana..I was sorta expecting some Saskatchewan and Alberta types to do that part, so what we NEED is some Central/Western Saskatchewan and Eastern Alberta guys... After all, once it comes down thru Montana/Wyoming, over thru Idaho/Oregon and up to Washington, it's coming back up to BC.....So Darcy, If you really want to do that, my "planned" route is gonna bring me thru Bonner's Ferry/Eureka. 350+/- miles is a day trip right? grab IT, bring IT down, spend the night with IT, day trip back the next day?... I'd be happy to grab IT from you (and/or GregK?) and then scoot over to the Sunburst area (with GregK?) and down to Yellowstone to catch the couple of Montana guys who want to be a part of it also. So far (unless I missed something) only two Montana guys have spoken up..( I believe Ofreen is an Idaho guy??) We still got a month or two to plan... ;D

I'm interested in crossing at Eureka, Montana.  I live in Kimberley BC so this is in my backyard ( sort of).   I can travel to the BC/Alberta border near Blairmore or vicinity to take IT from some Alberta rider.
Unfortunately, there is little or no support from the Alberta members to date.  It appears that there may be a gap in the northern Montana portion of the rally as well.  I've e-mailed a member in Billings who is interested, but will have to finish putting the bike back together.  Lets hear from some more people that are interested, no matter if they ride a few km or hundreds.

Definitely a few gaps in the program at this point..My ride (I'm planning a 5 or 6 day adventure) will take me from Portland north thru Walla Walla and Spokane, WA, and into N. Idaho at Bonner's Ferry, then East from there to the Sunburst area, then South thru Grand Rapids, Helena, Butte, Bozeman, and Billings, down thru Yellowstone and back to Portland thru Boise..So yeah...More Alberta and Saskatchewan guys needed...and a couple more Montana, Wyoming and Idaho guys wouldn't hurt either... BUT..the big question is..who's bringing IT from the US Wisconsin/Michigan/N. Dakota area into Canada, and who's taking from there, going west, and how far????

Glad you're back and hope your moms doin OK.. We've got a couple Montana riders, and I think the run from Boise to Portland is covered, Haven't heard from anyone in Wyoming, but Timdhawk in Billings spoke up wanting in, and since that's fairly close to Yellowstone, he may join me on that part of the trip, Ofreen's here, there, and everywhere, but nothing is finalized yet until we know more  we're kinda waitin on the Canada crowd to let us know when and where IT will be coming from Ontario, thru Saskatchewan and into Alberta, If IT gets to the west side of Alberta, GregK might bring it down into N. Idaho..
Portland to Seattle is covered six ways from Sunday... ;D

Is there a master list somewhere with dates? I can't commit to passing the torch because of work but I'd like to save the dates that are near me incase I'm available.

not really.  IT is too far away and as riders/weather/routes change over the next months, it could swing our area dates a few days/weeks.
i'm guessing sept 1st, +/- 3 weeks  :D

I'm going to be on a two week vacation right around that time so hopefully I'm at least in town when it happens and if I'm not at work that would be even cooler.

Hey guys, I'm up here in Edmonton AB, willing to participate. I cannot cross the border, as I do not have a passport, but I don't see any reason why I can't take IT down to the Calgary/Cochran region, after taking it from a Sask rider. Of course, that is if IT even makes it this far North.

I see a plan coming together! Thanks tomsweb! A Regina, Vonda, Lloydminster, Edmonton, Calgary/Cochrane run could come out of this yet!!
I can get it to Invermere for a pick up from Kimberley...
