750 Engine parts swapping
« on: October 11, 2013, 02:59:10 AM »
Simple question.

Can I fit an sohc 750F2 cylinder head to a 750K sohc engine ?

I have aquired a CB750 (836cc) special, and the guy I bought it from is not 100% sure of the mix and build of the engine. Apparently it has a ported K series head & K series engine & mildly reprofiled cam.
I have bought a second hand F2 head and need to know if it is easy enough to swap the head over without issues
Cheers

Nope.  :(

In order to fit an F2/F3 head to a K motor you must also use the F2/F3 cylinders. You must also study and understand the oil paths for the top end of the F2/F3 in order to get all of the seals in the correct places. F2/F3 head/cylinder assemblies require additional O-rings as well as four acorn head nuts with copper crush washers. There are many threads addressing this.

Study the F2/F3 oiling system long enough and you will understand.  8)

(hint: the return oil paths are the deal breaker here)  ???
