Okey Dokey, I've had some internet issues in the last 24 hours, but it's all fixed now. (fingers crossed) I visited Brian at the Royal Talbot yesterday, and I'm happy to report that he's looking better everytime I see him.

Freaking awesome!!!! Thumbs up to you, too, Bear!

Yeah, that pic probably didn't do her justice mate, she's actually quite attractive, not that I was looking at her face........... The place is full of OT's as you can imagine, and Brian's previous OT was a bloke, so even if she isn't quite as cute as some of the others, I reckon he's not complaining too much!

And back to Brian's improvement, seriously, the pics are good, but to see him stand up in person was an awesome experience for me. When I first met him he looked absolutely buggered with a bloody big vacuum cleaner hose hanging out of his neck and various other tubes entering and exiting his body from so many different angles, and a sign beside his bed saying "No Solids", ("Do Not Feed The Bear"?) was heart breaking, so seeing him now when he can move himself around and look after himself is just bloody fantastic.

I really am grateful to Sammy for alerting me to Brian's situation and appointing me the forum's "on site representative", I'd never even seen the inside of a spinal unit or a rehab ward before I met Brian, and seeing first hand what can happen as a result of a crash has hopefully made me a safer rider. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Well - Brian is obviously doing well.

I called in at lunch time today to say g'day and got told he was off at a local festival on a day trip.

Ah well - I will try again next week, probably get there and find he is out at a dance!

I'm gonna drop in on my way back from Melbourne Triumph tomorrow Cliff, (yes, the big day has finally arrived, but I could have bought a nice used VFR750 with the 2200 bucks I have to pay them to get my Rocket back) Brian told me that the best time to visit on weekdays is after 4pm (after all his physio etc) and on the weekends give him a call on 0400557251 to make sure he's gonna be there. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yeah I know Pete, I've asked them to give me a detailed list of what new parts they've installed, and they've said they will. I've been doing some research on the Triumph owners sites and apparently there's a few different "fixes" they're supposed do as part of the upgrade, and the guy I spoke to told me that I'm only paying for labour and fluids, so hopefully I'm not getting shafted............ It's my 52nd birthday tomorrow, so I guess this is my birthday present, boohoo.......... ;D

Happy birthday, Terry.   That 2200 price does seem like they gave you some sort of break.  Of course, though, you did get the shaft....Larry

In respect of Manufacturers servicing parts and intervals. (not just repairs)
My last service quote for my car at its 10,000 mile service  seemed a bit OTT.
I told them I had seen much cheaper quotes on the net from people with the same car and that mine was very low milage.
They said that they could service it within the warranty but could not change the spark plugs.
The cost of 4 plugs fitted was £141.  :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
Simon#42 will be doing my servicing from now on. ;)

Well apart from being 2200 bucks poorer, (well $2204.50, to be precise) it's been a good day. I picked the bike up around lunchtime and enjoyed the ride from the city out to the Royal Talbot to visit Brian. He was having a shower at Ev's unit (self contained apartment) at the rear of the hospital, so I chatted with Ev over a cup of tea while waiting for Brian to be bathed by one of his nurses.

I'm constantly amazed at the high level of care Brian is getting under the "Medicare" system, including Ev's unit. I hear a lot of negative media about Victoria's public health system, but I can happily report that anyone unfortunate enough to have a serious spinal injury need not worry about not being well looked after, there was a constant stream of nurses and carers wandering thru the unit while I was there, and Brian was wanting for nothing. Good stuff.

I hung out with him for a couple of hours and I brought the Rocket down from the top car park so he could check it out, and the noise brought a couple more bikers out for a chat, including Brians new mate and fellow patient Col, who messed himself up pretty badly 6 months ago when he got T Boned by a rather large Kangaroo which threw him and his Aprilia Tuono into a tree. He broke just about everything from his wrists back to his shoulders and down to his pelvis, punctured both lungs, etc etc. Like Brian, he doesn't feel sorry for himself, and just wants to yack about bikes, which suits me fine.

Anyway, I rode the Triumph home feeling pretty good, it was a nice sunny day, the bike was running well, and I'd got to spend some time chatting with Brian. All in all, a good day. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Well then terry, Brian's getting fixed, the triumph is fixed and it's your birthday.....not a bad week then. Apart from the bank account being a bit lighter, grrr.
The news on Brian just continues to get better, awesome. Although I'm having a little trouble with the images of Brian being bathed by nurses....it reminds me of a film I once saw  ::) ;D
Thanks again for the updates terry and happy birthday bud  8)
