78 750F needle seats
« on: January 10, 2012, 05:18:27 PM »
Ok folks.  Are the needle seats on this bike pressed in, or do they come out?  Mine need to be cleaned very very badly and I cannot tell under all the varnish.

If they are pressed, is there anything in the seat area which shouldn't be thrown in carb dip?

Thanks again folks!

I don't know if the CB750s specifically, but normally if they are pressed in there is no slot for a screwdriver and if they are screwed in there is a slot.

If your your refering to the small brass piece in the middle of the carb throat, at the bottom yes they are just a light press fit.  Just be sure to remove the emulsion tube first (the piece in the float bowl with the hex on it), then use something like soft wood and lightly down it should come out with very little effort.

Ah, sorry for he confusion.  I'm actually referring to the float needle seat.

Like I said, it's hard to see below the varnish.

I don't think the float needle seats are removeable. The float needles are rubber-tipped and should not wear the seats too badly. New float needles are definitly worthwhile, and relatively inexpensive.
