Shinko 705 Dual Sport
« on: January 29, 2013, 11:19:57 PM »
Anyone here use Shinko 705 Dual Sport on the 750? Want to buy them because i have mixed roads here and i think they look good on a 750. Internet reviews are always about the sport tires not the dual sport. And they are cheaper than most other brands.
Any opinions are welcome.

This is a little off-base, but I use the Shinko Raven 009 on my CBR600F2 and found them to be the best I've ever used (since 1995). Have tried all the big brands and these worked the best and are least expensive. 9,000 miles so far and still some tread left.

I don't see any magazine reviews, but a quick Google search of "shinko 705 review" returns a lot of user reviews from various motorcycle forums.

They are on ddventure type bikes like the KLR650 and DR650, but then that is the market for the tire. I can see why you would use them on an SOHC4 if you live where dirt roads are common, but I suspect most of us ride our bikes on pavement and so wouldn't really consider a dual sport tire when shopping.

My roads here are 50% muddy and rocky,no pavement, thats why i need a sufficient tire for my baby. I see the reviews for the big enduros, but these are different bikes and complete other riding style. guess you can not compare how these guys wear the tires and i do on a 750. Thats why i ask here for people who use them on their bikes. But thanks for your comment bankerdanny.

I would try posting the question at one of the Adventure Bike forums.

I bet many see lots of street time, including some curving roads, the guys just don't talk about it because it's not the regular forum audience. If you ask the question I suspect they could give you a good idea of how they handle street style riding.

I ran them on my KLR 650.  They were great on twisty pavement and fire roads.  And I got great use out of them, still looking good after 5,000 miles (front and rear).  Even after a 1,000 mile Saddle Sore day! (yes on a KLR  8))  And they were cheap too!  Recommended for someone that wants that type and look of tire.
