@Ron, yep, that was his. Its a 500 but it seemed like it just wanted to fly and Sean kept slowing down to let me catch up  :P

@medyo Yep! Easy to use and works very well with the dampers installed. Only cheap pieces are the inserts, they really should have been brass.

@mrbreeze I was very careful, and didn't attempt this until I had some adult supervision, as in Sean  :P :P I do have a surrogate tank but I haven't found the proper sized fuel line splitter to use with it.

Ed, get your hands on a few liters of Motul 7100 and you'll never go back. This is the best stuff I've ever used. My Kaw Turbo, the KZ900, and 2013 DR650 are great examples of clutch/shifting roughness solved with a simple oil change. I recently let a friend with a BMW1200 and shifting problems get a few quarts from me and he's hooked.

Thanks Gordon! I do recall our chat about that but I couldn't source it locally. Spectro is working out well for now, but its always great to have options!

Another loooong ride today, been taking it further and further away from home as I begin to trust it more and more. It loves the cooler weather, and with that near perfect carb sync (thanks Sean!) and spectro oil, it truly runs "ride it to believe it" good now  8) 8). Shifting is immaculate with those awesome gears from Billy B and the later year shift drum from Stev-o.

I'm used to the peaky power band thing with tuned cars, but this is a testimony for the phenomenal work that JMR does, this thing is a beast across all RPMs! I let it loose a few times today and scared the crap outta myself :o Long while ago I was chatting with Mark/Hondaman about DIY porting and he immediately cautioned me on not getting carried away with it or the carbs/vacuum will never balance out right. But seeing how nice and even mine sync'd, you can only imagine how perfect that port job is on the head from JMR 8) 8) Can't thank these guys and the forums enough. I can't remember one bad time I had during the two years it took to get here, just one ride on this thing makes me forget everything that is wrong with life :)

52 miles is a good ride...its just that I kept finding new roads that I had never been down before, and the weather was nearly perfect, and everything looked so beautiful in the clear air

Quick update, bike's been running great! Got my first ever Godzilla ride (albeit a short one) with help from Sean, hopefully PZ wasn't disappointed ;D

VJMC Members, look for my build summary in their Oct-Nov 2015 issue :). I'm glad and thankful that they accepted my submission. It was extremely difficult to summarize the (almost) two year long journey but I did my best. Despite that, I'm bummed that the section on gauge restoration didn't make the cut  :( Hopefully the piece will bring in more members to the forums and perhaps save more 750s (I know.... ever the optimist ::)).

Thanks guys, yes, the goal was to get more people to sign up here and KNOW that there's help for everything and they need not hesitate when picking up their barn finds! I really am bummed about the gauges and Marcel's mention didn't make it. I provided my top 20 pix as requested but only a handful were selected, and they managed to cleverly insert relevant ads everywhere.

@Stev o I think the PDF version comes out later than the print. They did send me a couple extra copies but my family grabbed those (folks and the in-laws). I'll see if I can get you my digital copy once I get it.

First, let me say I'm sorry you have to sell her.  I understand about the rest of life getting in the way.  Sometimes it's just like that.

A few ideas you may not have thought about.
Maybe you can call the Vic's World folks and talk to them about how they go about doing their sales pitch?
Maybe someplace like the VJMC museum or similar might be interested?
What about checking with some BIG Honda Dealers???  Something like yours might bring them some bucks???
Or maybe even contact Honda and see what they say????
Maybe even do a Fleabay thing high start price and No reserve??????

If there is any way to do it, I think you'd do better trying to sell it in the Spring when everyone is looking for a new ride.
This time of year brings out all the bargain seekers

In your CL ad, you don't say anything about "No Lowball offers" and I would also add "Not Looking for Trades" as well as "I don't have to sell, this is not a garage sale."

Hope life turns better for you.

Good idea on consulting with Vic World. This is the same type of build (meticulous NOS build). It deserves that discriminating owner.  I am not sure you will get that on Craigs list -- maybe some other lister/consigner.

Thanks for the support and help guys, I'm sorry its been really $hitty the last couple weeks. $hit after $hit after $hit, health scares, dying appliances and today the sacriest of all, note from employer promoting a voluntary severance option which I don't think is good news for anyone. I feel like a rock rolling down the hill, will probably only stop when it hits the bottom.

After yelling at some low ballers, today I got a call from a financing company who wants to run my ad as theirs, but want money for it. They want to list it at much higher too but I just can't deal with all that right now, too much going on. I'll make time to reach out to Vic's world and maybe couple other possible sources as suggested.

Been insanely busy trying to survive this year's round of layoffs. Nice high 60s was a welcome change in the weather so I took it out for a nice long ride after almost 2 weeks. AGM battery + Fuel Med RX = 1 kick start with choke after two weeks, incredible! What do you guys use when you have leave the bike sit for a while? I went with FM because it has both anti gumming and corrosion protection as opposed to Stabil that apparently only prevents gumming. Corrosion prevention is important if you don't want that white crud in the carbs.

Given up on the sale for now, roof will hold a few months on the budget patch (had some help with that). May have to give in and go the ebay route as many have suggested.
