Some Pictures: First real ride on my 75 CB750F...
« on: November 10, 2014, 08:06:11 AM »
...and man was it amazing.  It made the canceled dirt bike trip totally okay.

I got my dad to come out on his 78 Supersport and I had my girlfriend on the back of mine.  I haven't quite yet had an experience on a motorcycle like the one on Saturday.  Something about a CB750F at full song heading up a winding hill climb (especially with those pod filters, sorry) is just....magical!  I didn't have to go much over the speed limit to truly enjoy myself, which has always been the reason I jumped on my old bikes vs. my modern sport bikes. Way more smiles per gallon and way less puckers per mile.

We took a ride up California Highway 9 to Skyline and cruised along to Alice's Restaurant for lunch.  It's always fun when our sub $3,000 motorcycles get more attention than the Ducatis, fully dressed Harleys, etc.  Couldn't have asked for any better weather and aside from a leaky petcock, we had no issues!

I even got to come across another beautiful rebuilt CB550 Supersport in Flake Sunrise Orange. Haha

Here are a few shots:

If you find a dirt road...take a picture

Dad wasn't as enthusiastic about said picture

Nor was girlfriend....

Bike looks great! I just got my 550 on the road, and I'm down in Santa Cruz. I know those roads well. Where do you live?

Thanks!  I am in Santa Clara for now but looking to move up to the Summit Road area in the next few months.  Way too crowded. Haha!

Gorgeous.  Is there a name for that color?  Any details on that paint job would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

The color is the OEM color Flake Sunrise Orange. I bought the paint kit from "Vintage Honda Paint" (vintagehondapaint.com) and then an old family friend with a paint shop sprayed it following the directions. Not bad for his first metallic paint! haha.  He did a rush job for me so there are some imperfections in the paint but all-in-all, I couldn't be happier.

Don't apologise for pods, if you're mechanic enough to tune for them more power to you. It's just all the guys that get them and then are on here going waaah! my bike won't run right. Personally, I've given it some thought but I'm too lazy.

Nice pics and a nice bike, glad you had a good time.

Figure of speech, of course!

Yep nice looking bike. Did you paint it yourself?

No, didn't have the cajones to tackle that. I bought the kit and had a family friend do it at his body shop.
