If you want it to pop go with a yellow spring

How much attention do you want on the spring/shock?  If you have too many "Pops" nothing pops and it looks like the farkle fairy cursed your bike. If you know the color scheme for the tank and any painted bits you need to think through the way the colors will be seen as you look at the bike. A bright yellow spring might not go so well if you were going to paint the bike a bright purple with lavender pinstriping...
Yeah, I know...extreme example...but there are people who would like something like that.  I don't want to know them, but they are out there.

What is the body of the shock going to look like?  The clevises or ends of the shock are going to be silver/chrome/black?

You don't want the spring to compete with the flow of the lines you create. The subtle things you find when looking at a bike tend to be rich to the senses and eyes as you look closer. It will be lost on some, but those with a discerning eye will find new things many times when looking at the bike. It is not that they are buried or understated too much but they are well integrated and contribute to the overall look and feel of the design elements you choose.

That's my take...
Yellow shock, yellow plug wires, yellow pinstripe on the wheels?
If yellow is one of the themes it might work...
Sulfur Yellow and Chrome and Silver go together very well and with the right amount of excellent chrome or polished parts it can be a stunning bike...just don't overdo the amount of yellow on the bike...not all can pull it off.

Yep, hence my vote for black.  The only time you really care about your spring sticking out is when it's Ohlins.  ;)

Black will go with everything and not make the polished body too much bling.

I've seen a red spring on a bike with bare metal tins. I thought that was attractive.

Did you say what color shock body you are going with?

Thanks for the thoughts! To clarify, I don't mean "pop" as in a Guy Fieri-checkered-flag print kind of way, I just mean I don't want it to entirely disappear.  I appreciate contrast, and don't want to look like I just dipped my bike into a vat of black paint when it's done.  Don't worry, the design wit be subtle and tasteful but not everything will be black (I know that's not what you guys were telling me to do  ;))

I wish I had my color scheme laid out for my tins already, that way I could compliment it with the spring, but since I don't know I kind of need to come up with something that works with everything, and that is usually on the grayscale from black to chrome/polished.

Here are some other examples:

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

If you remain frame color it stays neutral and flows..instead of an interruption between frame and swingarm..

Might wanna consider throwing 2 or 3 more colors in with it though so you don't start to blend in!

I know this will sound very odd, but I rather like that bike.  :-[

Depending entirely upon your paint scheme, I'd opt for black or red spring. End of opining-

***AN INQUIRY TO THOSE WHO HAVE OWNED OR RIDDEN A MOTORCYCLE WITH A LIGHTENED CRANK***

I will be sending my crank to APE in the next day or so and haven't decided whether I want to just balance the crank or have it lightened + Balanced

Rideability + Performance:
My concern is that it might not be street-friendly and that due to the fast revving nature I will have to buy a Dyna ignition system with a rev limited (more money for parts after spending more money on parts).  What are thoughts on rideability? I will be running a 126-20 cam, so Im thinking it would be a good way to get up into my powerband more quickly?

Cost:
The cost difference is $285 for lightened+balanced vs $75 for balanced.  Not a huge deal but Im sure I could find another way to spend that $210

Cool factor:
it looks sexy and a responsive, snappy motor sounds very appealing to me...  8)
