...but seeing your trans gears/shaft there make me want to say that having my trans back-cut was one of the best things I have done to my bike...

That's what I was thinking and planning on doing with my CB750.  The old Honda's I've ridden don't shift/stay in gear like the modern bikes..  Do others recommend getting this done and find it's a worthwhile improvement in the quality of the ride?  If so, is it something for Cycle-X or can a local machine shop do it?  Thx.

Sorry to thread jack....now back to this amazing build!!

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

If your transmission is in proper working order, its unnecessary. If you are going HiPo, throttle whacking, and want the insurance of a solid lock-up, then undercut the upshift side 2-5. Only you can decide what's relevant for you, your riding style, and intended use of that bike.

Bryan has a pretty nice S1000RR for throttle whacking!

Ya that one is going to catch most of my abuse ;)  but that being said, this motor with mike's stage 3 work and a 126-00 cam it should be peppy... I would hate for it to spit itself out of gear...

I've had two bikes without undercut transmissions (with overboring, etc.) with no gears disengaging.  I did, however, experience my clutch slipping under hard load until I replaced the clutch pack and springs.  If you have the time and money, it's not a bad idea to back-cut the trans, but not necessary for your application.

Progress! (kinda)

I got my crank back from APE!  I didnt have it fully lightened, but I did have it 'race balanced'. I also for some other bits and pieces to help me get this thing put back together!

Now I just need my rods, cylinder, pistons, and head then I will be rollin!

No I didn't send that to them as I was told to "only send the crank" I can call them to see if they balance rotors or find someone else who does?   :o

I haven't done one with a 550 or 650, but Cycle X balanced my rotor and crank (and slight lightening - not the knife edge) for a 750 project.

APE doesn't list balancing the rotor in its services.  I think this is a service that Cycle X favors.  Again, not necessary.  I was just curious.

Just got this pic from Racetech... so sexy!

Its not definite yet, but Im thinking about doing this as a color scheme for the bike.  the light blue as the main color, the navy as a pinstripe to separate the blue color from brushed metal on the tank and seat cowl.  Hard to explain but I can upload sketches tonight.

Sam's is a top notch build. Read his whole thread, you'll enjoy it.

Sam's bike is a beauty and well thought out.  Like you, Sam also rides a modern (Ducati 1198).

Still waiting on some engine parts, but I gave my drone a test flight!  Super happy with it and got pretty good results for a first time flier!

Way cool!  Great resolution, too.  Awesome toy.  Now just get it to track you in flight about 20 feet above you orbiting around you and tracking as you ride up Angeles Crest!

Way cool!  Great resolution, too.  Awesome toy.  Now just get it to track you in flight about 20 feet above you orbiting around you and tracking as you ride up Angeles Crest!

Thats the next thing to try out.. I just dont want to kiss it goodbye right away haha

My buddy lost a couple of pricey drones -- one in the jungles of Costa Rica and the second into a pool at the Grand Wailea.  Ooops!

The boat guys have a spray on fluid to waterproof their electronics. It is not the cheapest stuff in the world but, it protects the stuff even when fully immersed.  Now recovery when you splash one, if that is possible is another ball of wax.

Be careful with it Blac... It would be good to make sure you have enough liability insurance to cover you, you don't want to find out the wrong way. Joining AMA would be a good idea as well. Do not forget to register with the government and get your number that you must affix somewhere on the drone. Same regs apply to RC aircraft above a certain weight as well. Have to register as a pilot with the government. There is a small fee involved with it. You do not want to be challenged by a local police officer who then fines you for operating it without the registration.
They are cool devices, seen and heard of some really boneheaded moves by people who have done really unsafe things with them and hurt someone or themselves with them.   Not that you would do that.
Enjoy the drone. DJI has developed a great product and it will become a very... expensive hobby if you let it.  Don't forget to save for retirement while you are young... The money won't compound before you retire to give you the high yields because you will not have amassed the amount needed to start paying larger returns...

It is registered with the FAA and all that good stuff.

I dont see drones being an expensive hobby other than repairing/replacing mine if i lost it. Im not interested in it other than having a 4k camera to fly around while I am vacationing in Iceland in a couple months, but I hear where you are coming from, lots of guys with tons of coin rolled up in these.

I only spend a small part of my cash on toys, not everything gets the attention and financial commitment that my cb550 gets ;) I'm very financially conservative and have already begun investing my cash into mutual funds, Vanguard index funds and have found a couple nice corporate debt deals backed with PG's on them returning 18% interest... I wish I could find more of those...

Got some pretty parts in the mail..  ;D

Monoshock came in from Racetech. I couldnt be happier with it!  I havent ridden on it obviously but it sure does look the part until then..

They weren't sure if they could put ride height adjustability on it because of how short it is, but they made it work and it looks great!

Of course I had to bolt it up..  ;D
