Topic: Newbie-basket case or pass

Hello from NC. Considering buying a basket case that previous owner wanted to restore 20 years ago but never finished. 1978 CB750K 15k miles clean title. Frame has been painted and carbs cleaned long ago I suppose.. Says has all the parts and Vetter Windjammer Fairing. The whole bike is disassembled,  engine was taken out from frame not opened up.  Will need exhaust tires and battery for sure. Any insight worth a look or pass. Thanks.

Project bikes make terrible first bikes.  It will be a very long time and lots of money before you get to ride...and how will you know if you have done well when you have nothing to compare it to.

Haha...im glad I came here and asked for input as opposed to going into it blind. I have an VTX1800 I recently obtained and am tinkering with. But would like to eventually get CB to restore/own. Thanks again.

Basket cases are parts bikes until reassembled. $250-$300 tops depending on condition.

I'd tell him to get bent! I paid 500 cash for my bike with title less than 15k and not a spot of rust on it. All she needed was a hg job. CB series are awesome bikes but 800 for a pile of parts of unknown condition on the word of a bearded pud tugged I would not trust.
