STUMPED with Hosting Sites. @#$% Photobucket
« on: August 21, 2017, 04:06:17 PM »
I liked Photobucket. Easy upload from my camera to PB then copy/paste the IMG code from my desktop. I don't wish to take an intermediate step of trying to figure out how to load them on my computer then figure out how to get them to the site or then from the computer to a site.

I looked at FlickR and Imgur. It doesn't look possible. Hell they don't even give instructions and they look wide open to the web. Guess I'm lucky to be able to use my damn phone. I just tried to create a topic and attach 4 pictures from it. 3 times. WTF? Where did they do when I hit post? Nowhere. And it's very difficult to read from that small screen and tap those tiny boxes.

Sigh...... Does anyone have a solution as easy as Photobucket??

If the @#$%^ search function would work here I might have been able to find the answer.  >:(

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Hey Jerry....fotofukit became a real pain and then they really screwed us, a lot of those great project threads dont have pics now.

I've jumped ship to Flickr and it is easier/better than fotofukit, but I use my iphone for pics.

I have a Galaxy S5. Ofreen was attempting to get through to me how to do it. The site is so small on the phone. I tried 3 times today like I did previously with the upside down pic. I attempted to attach 4 pics. I clicked review, nothing. I clicked post, nothing. I said fukit at that point. I went to Flickr and Imgur and signed up but I'm PB brainwashed and didn't figure them out. Can you upload to them from your phone then paste/transfer to the site?? I'm kinda still old(school) so the logic must be evading me......  ;D

Steve, did you insert the text and click attach then find the pic?

I wonder.

If there were to be a copyright act lawsuit levied against fotobucket.  On behalf of the educational photos they have essentially stolen and hold at ransom.
Could the project threads be revived with that sort of legal arguing position?

Tapatalk hosts my images, mostly. If not than google pictures. Make a public gallery and copy image location.

For phone camera use, Tapatalk works really well.

Yeah how dare they keep losing millions of dollars a year by offering free photo hosting....

But yes, I too find their recent actions a bit draconian.
Seems like they waited until they were going broke then panicked and screwed everyone.

Anyway, has anyone tried Google photos?
https://www.google.com/photos/about/
It sounds similar to Photobucket,  and they have an app you can use to load photos from a phone to the web.

Personally I keep all my photos on my local computer and just attach images to my forum posts, but I also have Photoshop and other electronik skillz.  ;)

OK, that's PhotoBucketish. How do you get it from your phone to Flickr? They seem to assume we're all techno youngsters. Pretty sparce on instructions.

Thanks for trying to help.

The photos are yours, you can simply download your library to your own computer. Hosting and publishing them was their service to you. And copyright doesn't apply unless the image was protected before publishing and they (PB) is re-publishing it without the owners consent (which they are not).

How do you get it from your phone to Flickr?

That is the easy part.  First downpoad the Flickr app.

Then go to the pic you want to upload and hit the
"share" icon, select Flicr and hit post.

No more uploading to your computer and then uploading to website, it is simple!

Steve-O,

Let's take this approach LOL... I'm stupid errr challenged. I did that and it did not go to the foum. Perhaps a step by step PM so I don't look SOOOO challenged?? ie step 1 - push this button : step 2 and so on. That is, if you have enough patience with my ADD challenge.

Thank you for trying...... Greatly appreciated.

Uploading to my computer is something I DON'T/WON'T do. I previously sent them to PB from my phone mini-screen and then sat down and used this large keyboard and screen on my desktop to pull them up in PB then I'd simply copy the IMG code and paste it to my topic. Viola!!

You make a good point Cal.  Service providers are worthy of compensation.
If users can still access their photo library for retrieval than I guess there is not much to fight over.
Though the impression I got from earlier posts was photobucket was now requiring payment from users to access their online accounts.  Ergo; Ransom.

So the only plausible argument I could think of was the 1972 copyright reform act.  Regarding intellectual property rights (with and w/o library of congress reggie)
& Educational Fair Use priviledges.
Maybe its a stretch of the law.  Who knows?  I'm just a cow.

I went to google backup and all my phone pics automatically upload. So far I've only figured out how to post a link here, not a pic though.

When I lost signal in S Dakota it killed the phone's battery trying to upload pics though.

Try using Tapatalk.   It's free and work well.   Upload from your photos on your phone and right to the forum.  Easy to read on your phone unless your still using a flip phone.  It's way better then using the actual web page. Check it out.  Free!

By now I've figured out some of the how to's of Flickr. Very similar to Photobucket ONCE YOU DETERMINE HOW TO DO IT WITH HELP FROM FRIENDS as there seems to be a serious lack of instructions. Thanks to all.

I find trying to read and type on my phone to the site too difficult and would prefer to use my desktop.

Well, I'm done with all of them.

Flickr- messed with this for two days. Uploaded 32 pics yesterday and today I still can't log in on my iPad or  laptop. Changing passwords, entering codes only to get "to  many redirects, can't open."  Junk program using a iPad.

Imageshack-  Seems you have to log in to see any pics I post. Shouldn't have to. Done with this. Did I say screw PB? Yeah, them too.

I'll  just upload to this site.

That seems to be the best way TT,  I believe Glenn S prefers that method....Larry
