If you consider a trailer, a non-motorcycle vehicle:

Bought it brand new on Thursday, from Big Tex, 6.6 X 10 footer.

Loaded a washer and dryer onto it the next day, strapped them down using the eyelets and the f**king eyelet broke off.

What if that happened with my bikes tied on there?.....geeesh!!

So now have to take it back for warranty work done.

That is why I built my own trailer. It cost about $700 and a free old travel trailer frame. The old trailers have better axles, mine is a 4500lb single. I can haul 3k pounds and it has four forged eyes and lots of tie down points. The trailer has a 6.6' X 11.6' deck covered with 1 1/2" thick plywood. I can even haul my MGB GT on it.

I didn't learn to weld until 04' when I was in my 40's, it is never too late to learn. The welding equipment is way better than it used to be and it's fun.

Said buddy recently bought this '57 T-Bird for his wife and I have it at my house now for "testing"!  He bought it at Mecum last month, I did find a couple issues - battery doesnt hold a charge and the brake lights occasionally dont turn off.  Picked up a new battery yesterday [special order]  and ordered a mechanical switch to replace the original hydraulic switch. Apparently, this is a common issue.





BTW - I'll be down in Dripping Springs on Sunday at the cars/Coffee show.

Yep, never too late, for sure.

I've been pondering it, looking at butng the HF cheap stuff and learn as I screw sh1t up.

A buddy of mine has done the same thing.

I'm in my 60's. I'm a lot slower and lazier these days. But still want to play around with it.

I took the extra car over to my buddy's house thats using my truck. They need a family car pretty bad right now so im selling it to them on payments. Once they get it 4/4 paided off I'll prob just call it good anyways.

I fixed a Kubota tractor that belongs to the dad of one of the boy's friends. The left front had a stripped wheel stud hole and it was destroying wheels because they are cheap crap. I had to change out the wheel spindle. I much prefer my 76' Yanmar YM1300D.

Thanks.  Cosmetically and body-wise the truck was in good shape but all the running gear was very tired.The truck belonged to my father and it's basically been sitting around for the last 15 years since he passed away.
I kept it running over the years but it was never really driveable in any meaningful way.
It was a pretty truck but it was never my thing and it needed way more work and money than I ever going to spend on it.
Sadly my impetus to sell was the fact that I needed the garage space for my recently deceased mothers things.

 I changed the rear end gears in my buddy's 9" ford rear end for his twin turbo dragster. It has a big pinion pro gear, man the bearings are huge in it! He bought the wrong kit for the bearings so we had to move his old ones to the new pinion, that was a treat.

Got a oil change and they checked the CCA of my battery there. 97 CCA on a 550CCA battery. Good thing for gear reduction amd low compression on my civic. Time to get a battery soon.

ya gotta watch some of these battery testers,theyll test a flat or partially flat battery,you gotta have a fully charged battery to test it!

In the early 90’s a friend of mine bought a TRD Toyota MR2 racer from California. It ran in several Endurance Series across Canada and USA. Next he raced a Mercedes and the MR2 ended up in a barn...... a month ago, another friend dragged it out and cleaned it up. Tires, oil change and brakes. Not much else.

Last Friday we showed up at the first round of the Canadian Endurance Championship. Over the weekend we ran over 18 hours (including a 7hour race Saturday and 8 hours Sunday). 1778 kilometres and we used over 500 litres of fuel....... burned off 8 tires and 1 litre of oil. Amazing race car........

Went to the Mecum Classic Car Austin in Houston a couple a weeks back, my good buddy bought a few cars.

Since I am a good friend, I volunteered to give the cars some shake down rides since ya really cant do anything other that a visual inspection at auction.

First up was a 1968 American Motors AMX.  You guys remember these?  I saw one at a vintage car show last year and was fascinated by it.   When this one came up for bid, I urged my buddy to go for it and he got it.

It has a rebuilt 390ci engine with alum heads, four barrel carb and headers, it was a TV car on the show "Misfit Garage". The guys act like idiots on the show but can def build cars!

Car runs great and is a blast to drive.   Glad I talked him into it!

The 2 seat AMX (Versus the later Javelin and Gremlin based versions) and the late 60's Barracuda Notchback are my two favorite underrated pony cars. The Barracuda can still be purchased for a very reasonable cost, the AMX hasn't kept up with similar year Mustangs and Camaro/Firebirds, but values have risen quite a lot since there are so many less of them.

ive had this old 1973 holden I think 35 years?its my daily driver,just never bought another car?every coupla years it gets a good wax/buff/stainless polished and wheels buffed,good old turtle wax and autosol,mostly I wash it quickly every 6 months!ya never see em on the road anymore?they made 485000 of these things in various forms,wagons/pick ups/coupes and like mine 4 door sedan.

Looks good Dave   How many miles on it by now?   I go through a car every couple years- buy one for a thousand or two, drive it till it is non-usable then buy another.  Cars usually have a couple hundred thousand miles when I buy.  Most miles I ever got out of a vehicle was 400K on a Toyota 4Runner.   Larry
