Need a quick physical measurement on a CB750
« on: October 02, 2018, 08:29:11 AM »
Is there anyone in CB land that can measure the outer distance between the rear shock mounting bolts.   Need the measurement from the outside edge of the stud/bolt to the outside of the other stud/bolt.   The one day I didn't ride mine.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

From the ends of the threads or outside shoulder to outside shoulder?

Including the threads or not??? I interpret outermost as the threaded end too. You too, Keith?

Yep.
Measurements with calipers on frame CB750-1015411:
Outside to outside (threads included): 322.5mm
Outside shoulder to outside shoulder: 294mm
Inside shoulder to inside shoulder: 241.5mm
There are manufacturing tolerances that only Honda knows.
And later frames had longer threads.

Not longer shoulders.. they should be same length.
It's wider shoulder overall width, and longer wider swingarm.

When I say "shoulder" I guess I should have said "base". The "base" of the upper stud is 10mm wider on the left side on the later models to push the top of the shock out to match the extra width of the later swingarm.

FTFY  ;)

My statement was accurate. Honda lengthened the threads 5mm on the K2 when the wrap-around bumper (hand rail) was implemented.
Pretty sure the wider frame/swingarm was not implemented until 75 on F's and 77 on K's.
I provided the frame number from which the measurements were taken for specificity.  ;)

No, I think the change was made in '77 for both K and F models.

You may be correct. I was going by the axle part number changes. But both swingarm part numbers changed in 77.
