Nice shop time today. Got several pieces ready for sale: NEW PAMCO ignition $50; NEW Kuryakin LED Mini Bullet TS/Marker lights w/ LED flashers $75 (retail $200); rechromed with slight blemish K1 speedo base $15;  all plus shipping. See the classifeds FS.

Then attacked the Alt cover. I had scratched it and had an alternate polished at Brown's. Also trimmed the mounting lugs on a finned cover so it fit without pressing, and got it all swapped and mounted.

We were going to start it. But the battery was dead and when we plugged in the charger the fuse in the pigtail was blown and ... no spares.  NExt week.   :D

Ron,
I haven't been following your build long enough to know what color is your frame ? A darker Gold ? It looks Excellent next to the shine of the pure aluminum and chrome on your engine  ;)

Thanks. It's powder coat, candy gold with silver metallic base coat. The metalic shows better in person, it washes out in a flash picture. Indy Powder Coatinig did it.

Powder coating was a good idea,I imagine it's a Chore to keep that finish intact when removing the engine and other parts;is it a thick/deep coating? very hard ?

Its tougher than paint, but still gives up, like around the sidestand pivot, etc. ITs thick cause of the multiple coats: base coat, pigment, clear. Might hold up better had it been a simple 1 coat, thin and hard.

Mike, yes its been started twice with no obvious problems. about 5 minutes each time.  Love the MRieck parts!

Tin: Won't get to ride it, or video it, before April 15th, for personal reasons.  But I want to start it as much as possible to see if any oil leaks develop, etc.

Fate has determined that I'll likely be working with the tools more than riding in the future anyway.

Today's shop time was abbreviated. Looking at the last batch of polish/chrome from Brown's we decided to put the polished speedo drive in.

We jacked up the front end. But the rear touched down before the front was high enough. So we put a 1x4 shim under the centerstand. That allowed us to raise the front more. But then the wheel would only drop down an inch or so as the wider rim hit the caliper mount bolts. Oh yeah, the front won't come out without removing a caliper.

But it was low enough we could break the axle nut loose, slide the axle out, swap the drive, slide the axle back in.

Looks good, but now the axle is the weak link. I'll have to get a spare and send it in, the axle nut looks really bad.   ;)

Meanwhile, got some fuses and got the bat charged back up. But time was running out and I didn't want to do anything else, as I had desk work to do.

Forgot to get some RTV to glue the site glass back in the MC.  BTW I have spare site glasses for $2.50 ea shipped, for anyone replacing a site glass.

What good Destination do you have planned to ride this bike to when you've completed it ? I know the weather will be agreeable  :)

I had big plans, Wyoming, Deal's Gap, Texas Hill Country. Now its more like where will I haul it, as I don't really think I can ride anymore. at least nothing conventional, due to Peripheral Neuropathy. My symptoms are numb feet and loss of leg strength. Not good for operating a MC.   :(

There's a show in Indy, on N. IL street in May. Then the National VJMC meet at SpringMill State Park and have a show. Then the MotoGP in Indy has a show.  I would be thrilled if I can make those.   ;D

But, I need a trailer that loads at ground level. They are kinda pricey.

4o'clock. Ed (Phoenix) shows up on revived K1. Build buddy Bruce confers.
Another shot, having just returned from an adventure in Story IN.  This K1 gets ridden!
Ed concurs, the seating position is ideal.

Puttin the tins back on P II. Love those flames.

It started up, with a little reluctance. It's been a while. After a 5 minute run, we shut it off. A little oil from the aftermarket valve caps. Snugged them up. Engine sidecovers were dripping a skosh. Snugged then up. Some errant drops here and there, suspected from the oil filter cover swap where oil was dripped onto the header.

Restart was prompt, just a touch of the button. A few more minutes running, then clean up and call it a day. Things to do.

Maybe go for a ride next week.   :D
