Have you ever seen so much flat surface area to put stuff on? And the floors, look at the floors, why you could walk across that shop with a blindfold on !  Okay, where's all the stuff ? Is it all piled up in the driveway?  Semi trailers in the yard?  Gotta be somewhere...I cleaned my shop up once, it took months, found more stuff than I had in the first place...where does he put it?
Nice shop.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

Thanks fellas. Not surprised some of you have an appreciation for what goes into setting up and maintaining a shop. Some of my favorite times are spent working alone in my shop. There's an awful lot of stuff stored in there. And there isn't much room to spare, as it serves both woodworking and metalworking duties. But I try not to let it become cluttered.

The stationary machines take up a lot of space and require dedicated working space around them: 3 table saws, radial arm saw, 4 bandsaws, scroll saw, 3 drill presses, lathe, mill, spindle sander, drum sander, disc sander, belt/disc sander, thickness plane, hydraulic press/metal brake, buffing machine... Same with the workbenches, some of which do double duty as offcut tables for the table saws. I do a fairly good job of keeping them clear so they can be put immediately into service with no time wasted. And assures there will be space for setting up fabrication projects, like this stainless and teak boarding step/swim ladder.

Anything seems possible when you don't know what you're doing.

Nice shop EZduzit!
I have some tools that are all in storage waiting for a new home.
It will be nice when I finally have a shop that I can get settled into.
Unfortunately, the talent is lacking to optimize the tools and the new shop. But, I plan on working on that. That's the plan anyway......

Thanks fellas. I'm sure most can relate to the effort it actually took for me to build this up over the years, mostly one craigslist/eBay purchase at a time. :) OK, some of it was purchased new, too. But a lot of machines were bought and sold, especially due to required relocation moves.

One machine that just wouldn't fit in the latest shop (about 750 square feet) was my dream lathe, shown here in my old shop. A loss I deeply regret.

That is a nice lathe. I was on one of those in the late 1990s when I was trying to change jobs from being a carpenter to machining.

I'm very lucky sometimes and when the wife found her dream house there was a 30'x48' 1440sqft shop out back. I've learned that no matter how big the shop is you can fill it up. 8)

I'm hoping to buy a house that has a shop already on site. I have already built my dream shop once, and am now selling the property.
If anyone is looking for a nice setup in the Seattle area, I have one for sale!

Kelly,

The shop is 1200 sq ft. The floating slab has hydronic radiant heat. Keeps toasty warm in the winter and nice and cool all summer.
The apt above is also 1200 sq ft with radiant heated floors.
