Very, very cool Terry.

Thanks mate, we all thought it was cool too, it was quite a surprise! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yep, it's just a shame they never name the streets here after people while they're still alive, Dad would have been stoked. ;D

Couldn't help but look it up Terry. I see a Prendergast graduating from university at 90 a couple of years ago. Quite a family.

Though I'd better post a pic of one of my bikes on (near) the road to keep the thread on track.

Thanks Phil, that’s my Ma, she’s the oldest graduate (or graduant, whatever the difference is) of Melbourne University. The graduation day was pretty cool, we had a film crew followed us around all day, the university put on a private reception for us, the other graduates gave Ma a standing ovation, etc etc.

She now gets a government grant to buy headphones for Alzheimers/Dementia patients to listen to their favourite music, which makes their lives a little more enjoyable. She turns 93 in August, is still living at home and looking after herself. She still gets frightened when she sees me on a bike, lots of my friends were killed in the 70’s and 80’s on bikes like the ones we ride. ;D

Thought it was Terry. I see a pic of you all proudly standing around her. One of the BBCs 100 women of the year 2020! (as well as Jane Fonda)

Ha ha, thanks mate, I was the black sheep of the family, for the first 17 years of my life I thought my name was Jesus Christ, because every time my dad looked at me he shook his head and mumbled, “Jesus Christ”....... ;D

Prokop, how would it work to set-up a cable operated drum brake on your sidecar wheel? Could decrease the torque-reaction and sway in certain situations?

Took a nice ride up Sheridan Road all the way to Kenosha Wisconsin on a beautiful sunny 75 degree day.

Back in the day (late '70s), I used to ride my '73 Triumph Bonneville from my apartment in Rogers Park north up Sheridan Road to the WI border and back. Great rides.

Thats how Velorex has it, but I am working on adding original SuperSport caliper brake to the wheel.

So far i was always able to hold it steady while breaking.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, well at least the weather was nice enough for a ride. Engine has now done a tad over 1900 Km's (1200 miles) since I rebuilt it with Wiseco 836cc kit and Andrews A Grind cam, and it's pulling like a train.

K2 Bitsa Sunday 9 May 2021 1 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I built this bike 4 years ago and and this is the third junk "Good running" engine I've bought for it in a row, but this time I stripped it back to the bare cases and replaced everything that was worn, incorrectly installed (like the shifter fork that was put in backwards, only giving it three gears, and the 64.5mm 4 valve pistons that had been "shaved" with an angle grinder to reduce the piston height, but still hit the combustion chambers, the busted off end of the clutch shaft, and finally, death by Hondabond that blocked the oil pump and starved the crank of oil, destroying the crank main bearing journals) and a few other things that were fcuked, that I've forgotten about.

The bike is finally a pleasure to ride, and I'm enjoying riding the wheels off it. After stopping for a late lunch, I even washed it yesterday, for the first time ever! ;D

Most of the time it's empty.  Bag of chicken food, groceries etc is my typical cargo when I have any.   But the sidecar frame is heavy by itself.

If you aren't having issues with stability under braking I'm not sure you will get much value for effort.
I can't say I've felt the need to install a brake on any of my road chairs but their all different that's for sure.
If you do decide to add an hydraulic brake then I would suggest you install a manual proportional valve to the system.

Cheers,
Brian
