DIY Powder coated some of my CB750F2 parts. Love this HF powder coating gun. Much better than painting!!! Used Eastwood Super Gloss Black and Super Gloss Reflective Chrome with clear.

So much black.

With the base and clear, how thick is the powder? Is it noticeable thicker?

Yea, it's a lot of black but this is a 1977 CB750F. It had lots of black on it.
As for thickness, it all depends on how much powder you apply. You can just lightly dust them, then bake or keep applying the powder for a thick coating then bake. The black is a high gloss and does not need clear. It comes in many finishes, from high gloss all the way to flat to wrinkle. The "Reflective Chrome" requires the clear coat. Eastwood states that it is a two stage coating and is required. I wasn't very happy with the way it turned out. It was very "reflective" when applied and baked but when the clear was applied it "dulled" it down. Probably my fault. But reviews on there forum state that many have had the same problem.

Applied decals to tank. Give it a day or two to set then the clear goes on.

Jerilee, went to Walmart and got a $65 oven. Looked for largest counter top I could find. This one is a "West Bend". Here is a couple pic's of it.

That's not bad at all. Clearly it can fit the fork lowers. :)
How did you suspend the parts inside, coat hanger?

Jerilee, yes it just fits the fork lowers one at a time at an angle with about an inch to spare. To suspend parts I got a roll of wire and made assorted hooks. The oven came with two wire racks. I use one at the very top to hang stuff, the other was used on stuff that could just rest on a rack. Look at second picture of oven in previous post and you can see resting on top the wire coil, PC tape and the box that contain plugs. Got the assorted plugs from Caswell plating. They save a lot of time buy just putting a plug into a screw hole so the powder won't get in. They just pull out when done and are reusable. Here's a pic of lower in oven. I remounted it to show that it does fit.

Also for anyone who gets the HF powder coating gun. It only comes with two cups. HF does not sell the cups. I found that Caswell Plating sells a gun like the HF and the cups are just like the HF. I got three from them so I wouldn't have to keep pouring powder back into bulk container and cleaning the cup for the next color. The cups are only $2.99 each. Here's a link: http://www.caswellplating.com/powder-coating/powder-coating-systems/powder-coating-gun-cup.html

send them to me and i'll do some experiments for you.  i know you don't like to polish, me neither, but read that you can let them sit in Cola and chrome should clean off.  worth a try.

Looks flawless. What is it with all of the Australians doing such frigging great painting? You and  forum member "cakey" should get together for a few frosty brews. Great job Krustyman.

Thanks FF. That paint job was straight out of rattle cans, anti rust epoxy enamels usually made for painting ironwork. It's not perfect by any means but it's good enough for me, not looking for concours. Just need to buff it when its cured fully then fit the emblems.
Not sure if I've already posted this but this is how it looked when I got it.

Great info! and thank you for going back to take the photo! I've sprayed paint a few times but PC is still a whole new world for me, for now. it sounds pretty do-able. :)

C'mon Mick, we need more info.  Pics or it's just BS!

No pics yet Steve , Yoshimura rearsets, a really nice oil cooler {these first 2 go away for the 3rd bike, the 1000cc injected one}, foot pegs and mounts, a very clean early airbox, rear wheel spacers, a nice clean hand control, dash and wiring, coil mounts, inner guard, long oil filter bolt for oil cooler conversion and some more wiring bits.... All these parts are for the 900cc K2, which isn't far off being built, just a few more little things to get sorted and its full steam ahead......slowly.... ;D ;)
