Its more a necessity than an Idea, my jack stands are in use elsewhere

Yeah, I've got jack stands and a floor jack but the bottle jack looks to be the best tool to keep the front end propped up and easy to use. So, necessity brings about innovation.

Well nearly 12 hours of driving and over 600 miles later, my red VTR1000 "Project bike" is safely ensconced in my garage. Wow, what a day, I think I'll go to bed......... ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey Terry - are those little fold up trailers okay?

Thinking of buying one when I sell the ute.

G'Day Cliff, well I've done thousands of miles with this one with no issues at all, but they're not cheap once you add all the necessary accessories, (this one was around $1400 new, with all the "extra's") and this trailer isn't as easy to fold as another one I've seen on the market, it requires removing several bolts underneath, and believe it or not, it's fcuking heavy! Personally, I'd rather have your ute! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Went for joy ride yesterday only to find out my driver's license and my credit card are safely at home in my hunting shirt - and Red was in need of some gas  ;D

Luckily there was five bucks in my tool kit; boy did I behave riding home.

CB750 K3 stock carbs and airbox, old 4 into 2 pipes:
Chased my tail on trying to correct fuel flow, idle RPM's and hanging RPM's. Chased a vacuum leak and tightened bands all the way down. Is it crazy to "bench synch" throttle slides on the bike? Have tinkered with that, amount of thread at top of slides and removing slack from slides, adjusting throttle screw in and out and tinkering with air/fuel mix screws anywhere from 1/2 out to 2 full turns out. Just totally unpredictable RPMs. One time too rich, the next too lean.
I know, patience and perseverance. And redos. >:(

Removed the 2:nd cam holder stud since the threads were bad. Stud was slowly creeping upwards.
Ordered 3:rd chance thread insert. Self cutting and tapping M6 insert, 9mm OD diameter for 8.2-8.6mm holes. I have the larger one  since before.

Würth self cutting tapping inserts... No expensive tools needed.

Visited Yamiya750.com and ordered new shiny M6 case bolts since my dirty OEM have been tightened sooo many times.
Found other parts too.... Santa come early this year, or maybe my birthday next saturday....

Ha ha, well this is the other side Dwight, do you think it'll buff out? ;D

It's an insurance write off, so sadly it'll never make it back onto the road, but it's got good bones, and I've got another frame at home that wasn't written off, so I'll bolt all the mechanicals on to the other frame, once I've moved the good aftermarket carbon fibre bits off this one on to my black bike.

I'm not worried about the smashed fairing as I want to make a "naked" bike with a more upright sitting position, the big 1000cc "L" twins in these Honda's are beautiful engines, but the "head down, arse up" riding position doesn't appeal to me much after the first 100 miles or so, so I intend to make it way more "Terry Friendly". Should be a fun project. ;D

Oh the tapered bearing kit?  I nope'd that idea.  The original bearing races still have a lot of life in them.  I'll save the tapered kit for when I absolutely need it.

You need to just bite the bullet and get some gauges or a Carbtune. You will be amazed at the difference.

Pulled the carbs and replaced the original, tired float valve assemblies.  Wow... night and day between the old and new spring tension in the valves.  The old springs just didn't have any spring left.  Hopefully this was contributing to my tuning issues.  Reset floats to 22mm, but didn't have time to clear tube (verify).  Only high of 52F today, but will hopefully get out for a few miles and see how things are.

Nicely done Stryn - but is it a single overhead cam 4 cylinder engine?
