Doobie, how do you like the modern Z1? Do you have the flat spot issue? When I was looking into buying one I read the first yr ones were.a tad bit restricted which caused a flat spot

A lot of people have complained about the snatchy, on/off throttle but I'm fine with it. Honestly, if I hadn't read so much about it before I bought the bike, I might not even have given it much thought after the first 100 miles. I guess I got lucky because I know many people have complained about it.
You only go around once in life so it might as well be on a motorcycle.

Diagnosed my starter problem which was you press the button and all you hear is a noise of something spinning. Pulled the generator cover and then rotor off (little bit of oil behind the cover) and found that the big starter clutch gear (Yamiya Number:E164) that sits behind the rotor has notches in it from just being used. Rollers and springs look fine. Went looking for another one in the shed and looks like I'm out (rebuilt another engine) so sent a PM to a forum member for a hand.

Moved the bikes from the garage to the shop ( I hate brushing snow off the car) them had to move every body over to take delivery of the latest addition to the fleet.  Cb650sc,  dragged it in backwards, closed the door to keep the cold out and removed the front calipers so it would roll around.
intrigued by the wail...seduced by the scream.

My blue CB750 K6 avatar bike got a new front tire.
I see this as a work out pass !!

Dual front brakes require removal of right caliper with holder to get wheel off.

Wrenched the tire off wirhout danage the rim.

Baby powder inside the new tire for tube not grinding tire.

On with new tire and finger squeezing mount of the tube with the valve out thru the rim hole.

I used a little bit vulc taoe that  keep the tube valve washer in place during the assembly. It will hopefully seal valve stem vs rim hole too.

Removal of the valve inside made it possible to guide the tube valve stem out thru the rim hole with an allen too sticked into valve from outside.

Both nuts outside as it should.

Wrapped the new tire on with plenty of tire ass lube on both sides if ture and rim fir smoith landing. Ture went on correct with arrow to right direction.

I did not forget to pump the tube a little before the final tire wrenching on,  not pinching the tube this time.

PITA to mount rhe right caliper  with holder back again after wheel was back on

Moved the CB750 back to do some work on the tank and when I rolled it up on the centerstand several drops of oil appeared on the floor.  Right side around the bottom of the oil lines.  Never did this before.  Will have to investigate.

A CB750 enthusiast gave me a possible solution to my starter clutch gear problem. Get some wet and dry and take off the ridges to the gear so the rollers will grab properly. Check the springs and the rollers, replace if needed and should be good to go. Well got the wet and dry, spun the gear on the crank shaft by hand and took the ridges off the gear. Put all back together, sealed with Permatex Aviation Gasket sealer and some threebond  on the lower bolts, waited two days and fired up first time as it should. Happy days and saved some coin as well.

Loaded the car with AGI safety ohmmeter for testing the low resistances. A pair of Fluke multimeters for the rest, four channel thermocouple meter to measure header temperatures, plugs, condensers, a new battery, a gallon of brake cleaner, a fuel filter and polyurethane fuel pipe for the trip to France in order to recommission my four.
The Boss, glad of my forthcoming absence has dealt with the practicalities. A big pack of chocolate biscuits and a bottle of single malt whisky. She suspects that will feed me for the four days I will be out there.

Want to go tubeless on the alloy/stainless spoke beauties that are getting built right now- so I am pounding the internet for stories of catastrophic consequences that people experienced who did the same thing. I hate tubes. Certain cato potential there. Which one is more likely to end in maiming?

If they're just standard alloy rims and stainless spokes it won't end up in a maiming mate, because they won't hold air from the get go, so you won't have a chance to hurt yourself. BMW (and other manufacturers) do tubeless tyres (tires) on spoked rims, but their spokes don't go thru the rim, so it's air tight. ;D

I dunno...dirt bike guys have been doing it for a while...but the thing is they are running bead locks and very low air pressure (like under 10 psi).  Look at dirt bike parts sites to find the tubeless system kits.  But yeah, I have not heard of anyone doing it successfully with a street bike, so I am sure there is a reason, but I honestly don't know why it wouldn't work.  Just remember...flat tire for a trials oriented street rider means "#$%*, guess I better fix that soon".  Flat tire at high speed on the street can easily mean "goodbye cruel world".
If it works good, it looks good...

A rear wheel with new tire entered the bike today. (New front tire last week)
Not only swapping wheels, replaced the brake shoes too. The old ones did never work well, cheap shoes from Vintagecb750 or similar.

My K2 with used stock Honda shoes has a much better rear brake with a bite. Not only no brake, a little brake that quickly change to locked wheel as these cheap ones.

Bike ready for street. Started it yesterday after tank on. Before that carb jets finalized and Dyna coils back on again.

Maybe it will get an F2 clutch before spring. Connect volt meter and adjust the charging regulator small jobs to be done.

Needed to move the GL1200A before it snowed again.  Put it on the battery charger for 3 days then turned the key on and no power at all.  Grabbed a battery I pulled from a snowmobile last winter and put it on the charger for a day.  Swapped batteries and the bike powered up.  Would turn over but no fire.  Checked to make sure I had the fuel on.  Tapped the carbs.  Ended up jumping the bike with the car to keep the battery from dying.  Took much longer than I wanted but I got it barking and finally running.  Let it run until it came up to full temperature before moving the bike.   When I parked the bike I intended to ride it within two weeks, well that turned into 2 months.  In the fall I fill the Goldwing with premium ethonol free gas.  This does help come spring.  When I parked the bike I did do two things differently.  One, I parked it on the center stand and two, turn the gas off and burned some gas out of the carbs so the floats valves will not be closed for three months.

It was a short one but my last ride of the year 12/28/19.

Beautiful work Lars, I bought one of those boring tools years ago, but have never used it? I'll also have to watch some you tube video's on how to cut threads on my lathe, I have the tools, but have never tried. ;D

Yes, did that with DP315 cam and 4-4 exhaust. 93whp as most.

Hindle 4-2-1 went on to last season which is less restrictive and make it to run better.
RC295 profile give MUCH more power between 3000-6000 rpm, let's see what dyno say about top hp.
I planned dyno last season but could not get carbs good enough, irritating jerky behavior at low lifts making city riding not fun. My stock K2 felt like an easy handled scooter in comparison and my wife's favourite. No need of begging to God either as she told me as passenger on the K2. ;) :)

Found which jets that had been wrong all the time, needle jets too rich. This affect throttle lift around 2-5 mm over idle.

I compensated that with leaner needles which caused other issues I tried to fix with richer pilots ending up in sooting idle.

Carbs hopefully correct now.
That engine should deliver over 100whp.

I have been filing and smoothing out the cooling fins, head and crankcase in preparation for paint on my 74' 550. Seems like it's been forever but in reality it has been on and off for a couple of months. I am about done with the top end and starting on the crankcase. It will be fairly easy, it is an early 550( bike #449, motor #484 )and the crankcase is pretty smooth. I figure it is because the molds were new. 8) I got the seat back from upholstery recently and I still need to repaint the tank and side covers. Still on track for being done by summer.

I started up the K0 after chasing a vacuum leak. Still some minor things to do but I'm almost done after a complete build on this. Here is a link to her running. Sync  install the chain and the gauges and she should be complete. Now I wait till later tonight for my newest 750 purchase. Pics to follow that find.

I've pretty much finished installing the engine back into the K2 bitsa, and installed a new Delkevic pipe. Sadly the battery was flat, so once it cools down (110 deg F today) I'll take it for a ride. ;D
