I still think that figure skating is NOT an olympic sport...yes it takes skill...and yes it takes athleticism...

I agree! What's next, dancing w/stars in the Summer Olympics?!?

Bob, the timeouts are due to the fact that there is actually a timelimit to the game for each side. The timeout stops their clock and they can deliberate further....

I was sure there was a reason, but in conjunction with the slow pace, it just struck me as needing a breather while watching paint dry.  ;D

now you know why there is a time limit!! Could you imagine if they let those guys go on even longer?!?!?!

Actually I like curling. Not only does it take skill but it takes alot of tactical work as well. Alot of "if I do this he will do that" sort of thing. Knowing your opponent is critical... they may be better at draws versus hits, in-turns versus out-turns etc etc.

Never played it but enjoy watching a good game of it. Closest I have ever come to playing it is the table top shuffleboard in my buddys basement/bar.

There is some thought that any activity that awards points for style is not a sport, thus the idea about figure skating.  So then there are several activities that would also not be considered sports like, half pipe snowboarding, snowcross, ski jumping, free style skiing, and a whole host of summer game activities.  Curling would be considered a sport. :D

USA curling teams 0-5 I think.

Men     0-3
Women 0-2

We ain't doing so hot.  At least we are leading in the medal count.

So Canada got lucky yesterday, eh? Sid scores and Marty makes the save to win the game. I think that Canada was looking to Sunday when they face the US. Ryan Malone scores again for the US. Sunday's game shaping up to be a good one.

About Curling, for me it looks like Bocci on ice. And I think that any game that you potentially can get better at the more you drink, such as bowling, darts or pool, is just that, a game.  ;D

Under these circumstances maybe you just 'think' you're getting better.  ;D

Did anyone see the interview with Shaun White after his win and medal? I'm sorry, good as he may be, he came across as a very young guy who just can't get enough of himself. :-\ It will be interesting to see how he handles his life in the next few years.

You are all looking at curling from the wrong perspective.

Try this at home......

Turn off all the lights, watch women's curling with your eyes closed and the sound cranked up.

This will likely be the only time in your life you will hear multiple young women screaming at the top of their lungs....."harder, harder, faster, faster, in, in, ease up.......harder HARDER!!!!!!"

You can even enjoy it in multiple languages, depending on which team is playing at the time.

Women's Curling is in fact the Porn of sports........truly Olympic-everyone wins, even the viewers at home.

Go Canada!!!
If ever there was a creator of bastard sons, it is the open road, for she has claimed so many young men yearning for freedom......

Growing up as a small town farm boy I believed curling was just what farmers did in the winter. It wasn't a sport.

Now there's other reasons to watch curling.

Wow, I just finished watching ski jumping and a guy named Simon Amman won for the Swiss. Far and away he jumped the farthest. How high are these guys above the ground on their jumps? Amman jumped 138 meters long on his second jump. Their body control in the air is amazing. In slow motion their arms and legs are not even moving and they are literally flying through the air. Very cool.

that ski jumping has always been one of my favorites to watch. I guess it has to do with growing up during the "Agony of Defeat Days".
