I wouldn't bother, the "F" frames are longer at the back than the "K" frames and have a totally different seat...

Thanks, any other ideas for a seat the bike is otherwise more or less stock.

I would just ask around here. There are heaps of cafe guys here that don't use the stock seat so it shouldn't be too hard to get one.....

Don't quote me on this, but I think the '77 & '78 k models had a slightly longer frame than the earlier models.  So it might be worth a shot to try an F model seat.  I have no idea about the mounting tabs though.

Why change that seat?
It looks in good shape and in my opinion is the most comfortable motorcycle seat ever designed.

I have both a 78' CB750K and a 78' CB750F and the F seat definitely uses a different hinge. I'm sure an F seat could be mounted to a K frame but some modification/fabrication would likely be required.

Mainly for looks, I just like the way that the F seat looks better and hopefully I can loose some height also.

i've done that on a 76 750k - because i needed a seat and had access to an f type seat pan and foam - it was interesting in a way, but not really worth all the trouble - you have to do lots of work on the pan.

Constantin, that would be an interesting project that's for sure.

Let me know if you still want my seat, you might want to try it with a seat that needs to be recovered instead so that if it doesn't work then it doesn't cost as much.  My seat is pretty much brand new.

I have seen a few K bikes with the F seat/cowl and gas tank.  Don't know the particulars but here is a pic of one.

I have a 77K and 77F to look at, the seat mounts and seat lengths are different, the 77-78 K frame appears to have the extended rear frame of the F models.
