I'm still hanging with a buddy in Vancouver, home soon...... I unrolled the banner tonight and was blown away by how many people have been involved in this endevour, not to mention the amazing journal writings   It's amazing being at the end of this North American journey and seeing all the names, dates and miles done

Speaking of miles done, I've sadly lost track of Zilla Miles.  What I need is where did Zilla sleep each night since Idaho and how many miles did he ride between sleeps?

Last I have is the overnight in John Day, OR on the 14th.  Where did he overnight on the 15th and how many miles did he travel that day?

The trouble with collecting miles per rider is it doesn't collect location unless that rider is the exclusive rider between overnights.  When more than one rider is involved in a segment, rider miles won't equal Zilla miles.

That did help!  I'm all the way up to Seattle now.  Actually, all the way to the handoff with Frank.  Where did Frank take him after Okanogan?  Did he stay in Okanogan on the 18th or did he move north before sleeping?

I picked him up monday 19? took GeeZee to Kelowna  140 miles.
on the 23rd, 1080  took him for a bit, did 70? miles with him one day miles, had GZ till the 29th.. not gonna ask who GZ slept with!
 On the 30th I rode 145ish miles with GZ to Boston Bar, and handed off to Seaweb.
 From there it is about 115?? miles to Vancouver.

Thanks All!  I added the 70 miles of local touring to the Kelowana - Vancouver leg.  WOW! 19,316 Zilla miles!!  And if the Seattle boys do LizNapp GZ, we'll add to that total.  20k anyone??

I'll post the updated schedule in a few minutes.  Please correct any errors I've made!

The 70 miles is actually 106 miles! should be on there as GZ did a loop of the north half of Lake Okanagan. I never took GZ north of Ktown.

 So if the route is drawn on a map include both sides of the lake north of Ktown, Vernon is near the top.
 Aslso there was at least  2.. 25mile trips around town with GZ for taking pics..

Is it really? I thought that if some people wanted to ride up and get GZ ,so the PNWer's that missed the chance at a meet up, could do so.

 I would like to see it hit 20 K.. Actually as far as I know the end was to be at Seawebs, its not there yet , I think, plus it should see the Island or the peninsula..

 Would have been warmer Friday night with a windshield, I had neither goggles or a faceshield, but I am pretty used to it.. Should not be too bad on the coast..

The PNWer's were given ample notice. If anyone had been willing to meet 1080 in Hope last weekend, you could have partied with GZ all week. No one else got a "do over"....

Wow, did you read through this thread at all? I thought this was to network, make new friends, raise awareness about SOHC Hondas. I guess I was wrong, it's about schedules and dead lines. I'm glad you cleared that all up for us out here in the PNW.

I can assure you I have followed the relay from the very beginning. All of us coordinators have tried to encourage the networking and friendship building that you speak of, but how can anyone plan without some sort of schedule? Hey, NZ, Godzilla will show up sooner or later. Plan on that..

That's exactly how it entered the PNW, with moments notice when the last area showed up with it. We were pushed to finish and GZ was in Seattle for 3 days, all of which it rained and the notice was so short we didn't have time to plan. Hope is way to far away for people in Seattle, Olympia and Tacoma to travel over a weekend. GZ was in Portland for one night with 2 days notice and they never even had a chance. For months before it entered our area I sent out pm's to a lot of people involved asking where and when it would show up, nobody could give a solid time so we just made accommodations at the last minute when it did.

There's a vintage bike night here on the 19th, if you go back through this thread you'll see that we asked that we could take GZ there and then send him off and there were no objections at the time.

I'm not posting this to be critical, but I think there can be some lessons learned here if we are going to do this again.  I found it necessary to be proactive in planning for this.  There actually was some advance notice about when GZ would show up.  I posted this over a month ago when the Montana handoff was set -

The Oregon crew should start thinking about what they want to do for a handoff somewhere in Oregon and let me know.

And then this -

I'm out of here tomorrow around noon heading north.  I'll be on the road for 5 or 6 days with no internet access (and probably out of cell phone range much of the time), so if the Oregon crew wants to set up a handoff at the end of that, let me know soon.

These are all from the PNW thread.  Your responses in that thread show you made a determined effort to drum up some riders but got no response as your post here shows -

It's hard to put together a route when not everybody replys to emails or PMs. So to answer your question, no.

Fortunately after that, Mickey6 stepped up to the plate and saved the day for Oregon.  Again, I'm not making this post to be critical, just to point out that it was necessary for people to follow along (and follow through with what they said they were going to do) and be proactive because of the informal nature of this relay.  The problem wasn't that GZ showed up suddenly unannounced.  There was plenty of notice, seems to me anyway.  Again, I think there can be some lessons learned from this.

All valid points, with the obvious issue being that not everyone was looking/available during the right week or two that we had to act. Here's the thing that puts a bad flavor on it. No one else was rushed, because there was no rush until the summer was used up by the 2 and 3 week regions that wanted to make sure everyone had a chance. Good for them, but not so good for the unfortunate PNW that were stuck with the left overs. We're sending a plastic GodZilla doll around the world to give him rides on our bikes. This is serious business.

What are we trying to beat? The bad weather in NZ/Aus? It's just barely spring for the love of gahd. They have 7 months of warm weather and it's just starting to get there.

The blog? Hey man, the blog outta be finished up around the time GZ is half way through next year's tour... Ya know.

seaweb wants to be that last rider in NA? That's fine, I'm happy to take/send GZ back to him and he can take a spin around the block then ship to NZ... I have no pride invested in this, I just want to take a picture.

If there is a rush to move on... I get that. But then I can't help but wonder what, exactly, is the rush? What will happen if we make NZ wait until end of October? Some catastrophic event, no doubt. If it was that it's getting cold in Canada, well that's no longer an issue.

If we are being told 'No' for a reasonable cause, then that's okay and I doubt you'll get too many ruffled feathers. If we're being told 'No' because someone want's to be cool, or those that have already had their fun are getting tired of the project... Well, that's just weak saucilito.
