Glad to hear y'all made it!!  Enjoy Barber's, hope you can get your lap in.  Looking forward to hearing about the "Riders On the Storm"!!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Just got home about 1/2 hour ago after a fantastic day.  Will write more later, but the bottom line is that IT is no longer in Alabama.  Delivery to Cody was completed this evening and IT should be somewhere around Vicksburg MS.  Rode about 540 miles.

Riders on the Storm is right !..... wow what a ride that was ! 200 miles into the worst of the weather on I-65S with no let-up all the way to Barbers Racetrack. In true SOHC fashion my K1 750 runs smoother in the rain/wind/deluge  ;) :D :) No problems for Jason, Tug and myself on the way all bikes performed without a flaw  :)
The riders on the other hand, quickly became the Soggy Bottom Boys....... full story and pics. later c/o Tugboat.
Clocked 459 miles roundtrip on this leg. #2.
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Kirk, I was glad to see you made it home.  I had to switch to reserve at the 20 - 59 split on the east side of town.

I hated that I didn't get to ride any with you guys but it turned out to be a right call. I did run out gas on the way home just barely making my driveway. Again, the reserve clogged. I seem to clean the tank every fill up. It was nice to meet you guys though.

I have made it back home as well. Such a pleasure to ride with Ray and Josh again and a pleasure to ride with John and Kirk as well.

Cliff Notes for my trip:

Friday: 220 some odd miles in some seriously crappy weather but one of the best days ever. Serious behind the scenes tour of the Barber Museum, very good company, amazing hosts, and a few too many beers. All I really need to say though is Six into Six CBX.

Saturday: 386 miles total. Great Breakfast meetup and amazing weather for the ride to Jackson, MS with John, Kirk, and myself. Once we meet up with Cody and his companion at the State Capitol Building in Jackson I broke off from the group and headed South toward Natchez, MS.

Sunday: 524 miles from Natchez to Nashville. I rode the entire length of the Natchez Trace Parkway. Beautiful weather again with temps in the 60's and 70's and barely a cloud in the sky. Great scenery and the 50mph speed limit was actually pretty nice and not the hindrance I thought it might be. Side note; running 50 or so mph nets me a bit more than 8mpg better than running 65 and 70+mph. Got some of my best tanks ever today.

I may have to do a formal trip report on this one in another thread.

I got really good mileage on that last tank I guess.  I switched to reserve somewhere around the steel mills, so I had enough to get home on reserve with no problem.

Hey Yo,

I am glad you were there for breakfast.  I had never heard a CB350/Four running before, so that was neat.  Glad you made it home before the problem set in.

Well I did not carry IT I just accompanied the other riders along the way as I was not on a SOHC. I was actually on a DOHC Suzuki (I know ban me if you must) and the longest leg of the trip was not with any of the SOHC riders. I took off on my own after riding the two legs from TN to AL and AL to MS.

Yeah, im definitely lucky my wife was so understanding. she took it all in stride, even after bein stuck on side of the road for hours, having to push the motorcycle a mile and a half to the motel at 3am, and all my fussing, she still is ready to ride again when we get electrical fixed, and wants to start riding her bike again. It was kinda cool havin a police escort goin 80 on a two lane though lol.

Cody, I'm glad you and your wife made it back.

I just got back to Fayetteville. I left Coke and Taxiscooter at Antlers OK and headed home. We were real close to the drop in TX but still had not heard from the person meeting us, so I decided to head home. I didn't want another ride like the one last night when we didn't get off the bikes until 1:30am. I put a total of 1158 miles on my bike over the whole trip and got 55-60 mpg! I didn't expect to do that well on gas, so you should all get the 836 kit in your bike with the 17/48 sprockets! ;) I was very impressed with Coke's 350! I thought I'd be waiting for all the time, but he rides that thing like he's on his ninja! I'll post pics and stuff on the rider log. Great to meet some of you!

Great write-up on our trip Tugboat, very well written :)..... I must also thank jtb ( John ) again for his hospitality and taking such good care of his SOHC brothers  :)..... The head honcho at Barbers Museum, Jeff Ray could not have been more welcoming and gave us lots of his time and showed us stuff behind the scenes as described by Tug, a big thank you to him ( That guy knows bikes I can tell you ! ). It was really good to meet lots of SOHC'ers both in Kentucky and at Birmingham. I'm glad Kirk and John had a good trip to Jackson and enjoyed breakfast with them and Yo and his wife and very cute little daughter...... meeting the two groups at the handoffs was the best part of the Godzilla experience along with the awesome rides ;)

John,

Did you see a critter cross the road somewhere before (I think) Meridian?  It was MOVIN! and made it across both lanes of the interstate in front of you?  From behind you it looked to be not much taller than a house cat but longer.  If so, what was it?

the South group has passed the torch.  Our leg is done but the south shall rise again with the next relay.

Enjoyed meeting Radam and J4 and OK member Taxi Scooter.  Sorry that Radam had to turn back but it was another late night.  got home at 11:30 and Taxi and his wife still have 2 hours to go to get to Tulsa.  Radam, I put my bike on the trailer and rode in the truck home with Taxi and his wife. I know I am a wimp after all..

:)

can't wait to do it again.. maybe with an extra day added in for issues..  :)
