I haven't ridden mine since I crashed doing 80 last year, I'll be finishing up my rebuild one of these days. When I do, I'll be exercising that needle often, mine runs dry around 118, however accurate that is. I ran superbike bars at the time, I'll be running Norman Hyde W bars this time, puts my grip about four or five inches lower than the supers.

I just rode out ahead of a thunderstorm at 80+. Made it home, nice to be able to turn it on when you have to. 78 750 ss rocks.

I commute in Southern California and ride 80+ when the opportunity arises (we have worse traffic than you do down south even - I know . . . ) and still get passed if the roads are clear.  I don't like to lane-share at 80, but it does open up from time to time.  All that said, I don't have the jumpy-needle effect.

Rhonda likes to cruise around at 130KPH (80MPH). Makes the gasoline disappear pretty quick, though. ;D

I agree Evan, these CB750's seem to be the most happy around 80 and the most comfortable for the rider in that range ;)  Their sweet spot I guess you could say ;)

On my 750 or 550 I rarely go faster than 65 or 70.  I don't ride them on the freeway though.  You have to keep up with traffic to be safe and that means more speed.

I did some braking tests on a empty highway.  Used a patch on the road to start to brake. I braked as hard as I could to a stop at 60 mph.  Did it several times at that speed and then increased to 100 mph and was shocked at the difference in stopping length.  This was on a state of the art sport bike, with great brakes.  Brakes that had the rear wheel off the pavement.

Even with that sport bike, at speed, only in short spurts at maybe 100. .  I would rather rail through the corners.

We have a stretch I call the Tukwila Speedway I like to open it up sometimes. 80 is about my limit but I haven't seen a cop along this stretch in years.

Interesting.... I just got 50 mpg on a road trip I did this last weekend, averaging 85mph 153miles on a 3.1 gal fill. I can't remember the other exact numbers but both were right at 50mpg. Maybe my speedo is off? I do think sometimes that it says I'm going faster than I am, need to download a speedo app on my phone to double check it.

Man I feel ya! Sometimes when there's no traffic, like later in the evening, I'll get my socks blown off going close to 90mph by a mini-van or honda accord!

I have an electronic speedo calibrated to GPS.

I'm actually in the process of finding a good electronic speedo, I'm looking at the Daytona Velona but can't figure out which electronic pickup to use with it. Do you know if there universal GPS sensors that I could add to any electronic speedo?

On trips to FL, I've noticed drivers like to speed there!  Especially on I-95 in S Florida.
In anticipation of my trip there next month, I have reserved a Mustang convertible to try to keep up!

Look at Speedhut gauges if you want GPS.
