I found it interesting that our normally gun-phobic NBC ran coverage of the womens' biathlon in late afternoon - instead of 3am or not at all as in previous years.

even if those girders or what they are were padded deeply at that speed,80 plus miles per hour, its a bad scene, dont they have a guard rail on bends to stop an ejection?most sports are getting to the extreme,i guess its all on the edge of win or die doing it with some events, the footage should never have been aired.

uhm...not sure about these but for starters I would suggest ctv.ca or tsn.ca

Not sure exactly what they are showing. Another option is google vancouver2010 and see what pops up....I know Bell Canada is the provider of all things digital for the games. Try searching the bell.ca site too...

Dennis

thanks Dennis, I gave it a try but for some reason the videos wouldn't load. Sure seems like someone would offer live streaming.

I hear even the Aussies dislike their guy ::)

I would like to hear from our Australian brethren about their thoughts on the CDN/AUS internet spam magnet?

The previous Champion was on the Aussie team, but had formerly lived and trained in Vancouver.

I am not sure but he may have been a Canadian citizen..at that time.

At any rate he got toppled, but still took Silver, but could not even muster a hint of a smile on the podium... :o   :o

you could say he looked gobsmacked....

Mick
Seems he was Canadian, Lived in West Vancouver, trained with the Canadian team at age 15. He was also a computer programming genius. The Canadian team wanted more of his time away from the computer, and more time on the slopes. At 16 he moved to AU with his 15 year old brother and they had at it on the internet! You know the pop up crap on line, the "if you click this button we are in your computer" stuff.  Yeah, there is a guy and it is supposedly him!   Apparently he was the tsunami of all this stuff. He is known as the Spam King............ legal/illegal????

He spent 3 years in AU while waiting for AU citizenship taking advantage of AU Olympic team training before he could even compete. Now he spends most of his time living in Canada?  Talk about eating your cake !  From what I can find, he's not well liked in either .......anywhere....

He had a press conference in Van on his arrival and did not let any Canadian journalist in?

I read that NBC is moving the men's hockey game between the US and Canada to MSNBC in order to accomodate figure skating on NBC.  How is the NHL going to get any better exposure than having two of the world powers in ice hockey and some of the best athletes in the world play against each other? And NBC has NHL broadcast rights. Bettman needs to fight for his league. NBC's response has something to do with more women watch figure skating and it would be difficult to block 3 hours for one event. I don't buy it. Their ratings will still be up and figure skating can move to MSNBC.

Actually, my Sister is coming up from NV for a few events including the closing ceremonies so I have been asked "again" to go over and have lunch with my Mom and her . :P
You would think that at least one time in the past 7 years since I built our house here  She has come to Vancouver "4 times", she could leave enough room to come and see me here!

Haven't made my mind up if I need the hassle this time?

Hey we got a Silver today!  Man did he take a bad line to be overtaken by the American :o

Sid and the boys open play against the Norwegians today. My sons are rooting for the Canadians because of Sid and Marc-Andre Fleury from the Pens. I tried to explain to them that your country is also competing but I cannot change their minds. US starts play against the Swiss and the Russians v Latvia. Should be fun to watch. Especially Malkin and Ovechkin together.

I still remember watching the US beat Russia in 1980 and go on to win gold. Still the greatest sporting event I ever watched. USA!USA!

Sounds like Saturday might be an interesting day at your house....if memory serves we play you guys. It will be the first "real" test for us.

Although Canada comes in as the favourite (by most sources) I gotta say that the US and especially Russia are VERY strong!

I still think that figure skating is NOT an olympic sport...yes it takes skill...and yes it takes athleticism...they should make a "rock band" sport where you are scored on your dancing around the stage, singing and musical instrument playing skills...

That was sarcasm.

USA 3 Swiss 1
Hope you all don't mind if I keep responding on this thread.  US had a good 2nd period and kind of sat back in the third. Overall good start for the US though. Ryan Malone scored. First Pittsburgh born hockey player in the NHL. Way to go Ryan!

I apologize in advance to all the curling fans. I more or less understand the ultimate goal, but find it a bit 'slow' to watch. I watched a few minutes today and learned, to my amazement there are actually timeouts. Who'd thought?   :o:-\
