« on: February 14, 2012, 06:26:11 pm »
since i couldnt find a thread on here for team south i made this one please move it if needed. so far here is what my plans are, but as more people sign up it can be changed up to work out. but this is what ive been posting in the team southwest thread. as a proposed route/time frame. its just an idea to start with.

try to meet in texarkana the weekend of the 21st. then  from ar thru la back to ms and was talking with bluto from team southeast coastal about trying to meet at barbers on the 28th. i def want try to make it to barbers since i missed it last year. I also plan on bringing gz to red bluff "mississippi's little grand canyon"  outside columbia ms,

Do we need to pick up OK?  I could probably get to Dallas or Dennison, then go up into OK a bit, then over to AR and then down along the AR/LA border and hook up with you .. ride for a while in LA and then head back home

im not sure iff we need to pick up ok, they mentionned trying to go from dallas to ok, then to ar, so that would work, id check with the folks in the southwest forums, i also just posted over there, but would u possibly want to meet at caddo lake fridaythe 20th, and ride into la so far until u decide to cut back up?

Last year it went from AR through OK to Dallas,  the reverse would be good.

The plan shows OK after MO, maybe a cut through AR then, but if we got OK and AR done at the beginning of our stretch, then it could go from TN through MO and into KS.  Maybe a little more streamlined that way.

according to what is being said on team southwest, the new route/plan has it going from lubbock, dallas (5-6th), then austin(7-8th) to houston.

coke, you may want to check out the other thread of team southwest 2012 cuz what they are saying willl not let what we was talking about work to where we can meet in LA. I may have to ride to the south part of LA instead of the north like we was talking.

Guys,
This is my first "visit" to the Team South thread. I'm signed up from the Team Southwest thread to ride from Houston to Lake Charles, assuming no other route from Texas is developed from Stev-o. Currently set to deliver GZ to j4fr34k on Sunday 4-15 according to Stev-o's calendar. I'm fexible on most any route from Houston this week, as needed and as the group decides. I'll start watching both Team threads to keep everything clear in my pea brain.  :P

Does the 21st work for you since everything looks like its been moved up a week. I plan on taking gz to Red Bluff on the 17th or 18th. Can meet in Meridian on the 21st to head to Barbers. None of these dates are set in stone just a general idea based on me getting gz on the 15th in Lake Charles, LA.

how close to AR or MO is GZ going to get and where?
since the dallas/OK/AR back to LA is kaput I am kinda lost on where we are going

Coke, it looks like Bluto from SECoastal will pick up at Barbers, then it wil go up toTN, maybe bite off KY, and head back to AR.  I'm not really sure at this point.   If team SW would somehow run up to OK it would work out better.  Don't know that that's gonna happen, though.

UPDATE!  The Porsche Driving Experience has the track rented on Friday, April 27th.  No chance of a parade lap.  The 28th is Sport Bike Track Day, chance of a lap at noon, I figure we should plan to meet at the museum around 11:30.  Cody, I can meet you Friday as Planned, or Sat AM.  The plan is to pass GZ to Bluto, who will take him back to Atl.  and then go north to Chatanooga the next weekend (is this correct, Bill?)  We need to coordinate the TN guys to handle KY and get him to MO or AR.  I have something of a plan for that, which one of you guys in TN wants to handle the setup with me?  Coke, I'm thinking they can get him to the Chillicothe area, will that be OK for you?

Coke,
Looks like OK will have to be scheduled on the route between Team South and Team Central Rockies. If you're able to meet up in MO and pick up AK on the way to OK then we've got a couple of riders (zeek and taxiscooter) in OK that hopefully can take it from there to meet up with Team Central Rockies in KS. That might help relieve the West end of your range just in case we need more help on the East side through MO and AK. There's GOT to be some nice routes through the Ozarks!

Keep the ideas coming!

John and everybody,

Barber museum at 11:30ish Saturday the 28th sounds perfect.  That gives us plenty of time each way to make it a 1 day deal :D

Now we need to hear from someone who can takethe handoff the next weekend up in TN.

Bill, I'm sure the TN guys will come through.  I'll work on them over the weekend.  I've never ridden in AR, but have gone through a lot when I used to go visit relatives in SE KS.  Some VERY nice roads.

Ok, here is what I am thinking in relation ship to the TN / AR pick up:

Do we have any MO riders speaking up?  if not I could probably make a nice run up from Memphis to around Branson, then head back down to Van Buren where I live.  then the next day or so get it over to Tulsa to Taxi Scooter for the trip up into Kansas

Sounds like a viable option. We have no Missouri riders yet. Spanner1 is working out the handoff in TN from the Atlanta crew and would be the one to coordinate with on the connection to AR/MO. I've sent Spanner1 (Ray) a PM indicating that you're our AR connection.  8)

Hi Cody, Meridian works.

Hi John,

I will plan to join you in meeting in Meridian and riding back.  I am kind of late to the party this year and will probably be riding my CBX as the 750 needs a bit of work right now, but my job is keeping me very busy.

If I understand it, we would be meeting Cody in Meridian then riding back and over to Barbers?  Best I can tell the dates are looking like April 21 or 28, 2012 and of course subject to change based on progress from the West?

Will Atlanta group pick up from Birmingham or are there other plans for leaving Birmingham?

Kirk

HI Kirk.  Cody plans to leave Meridian about 7:00 AM on the 28th.  I need to find out if he's riding the interstate or back roads, in any case, we should probably leave here around 7 and meet him somewhere.  We'll plan to meet up with the GA guys and anyone else at Barber's at 11:30.  I have not heard back from Jeff Ray about the availability of a track lap.  Look forward to seeing you.
