kickstarter shaft play normal?
« on: February 18, 2012, 11:05:00 AM »
Is the kickstarter shaft supposed to have play in it when the clutch cover is off? I can wiggle the shaft back and forth over 1/4" without the clutch cover holding it in place.
They wail and weep,
The march of the sheep,
As they go to that cross on the wall.

CB750 K7. The play is up and down, back and forth. I can basically wiggle the end of the kickstart spindle at least a quarter inch in any direction. It doesn't seem to be pulling in or out at all, though.

The clutch cover supports and aligns the shaft serving as the outboard "bearing" surface. Your leg would fall off from kicking before you wore out the bearing surface in the clutch cover.  ;)
