SOHC 'zilla tour 3.0 discussion thread
« on: January 19, 2013, 07:31:47 AM »
Anyone game for this?  I vision something slightly differant, such as regional meets to get these bikes on the road!
For instance, I could host a long weekend  in Central Texas, and organize a great ride on the local roads. We've had a great time doing this the last two years. April in TX would be preferred. 'zilla could be shipped between meets, no scrambling to find links to keep him rolling. Sound like fun?

Wilbur - any interest in kicking this off in Florida next month?

Any feedback is encouraged.

Steve,
Sounds good, although Daytona Bike Week would be early March, would that be soon enough? I'd be happy to kick it off, not sure how much planning and support I can provide, but I'll do as much as I can. Forces beyond my control have been demanding a lot of my attention and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. I do intend to fit some riding time in though!

Yes, I think that would be great.  And after FL, zilla could go to GA, whether it be by bike or brown truck.  Any from GA nterested in goig to Dytona for bike week? That is a guaranteed good time with Mad Mt!

All I've gotta say is Wilbur and Greg have been 2 driving forces for 1.0 and 2.0. Great efforts and even greater guys and friends.

Maybe I can help out v3.0, no committment at this point BUT I may have a bike ready FINALLY! Test ride Sunday??

Time to define regions and get volunteers to be coordinators! This is a must. Gotta know the boundaries. Can't begin without regional head chefs. What's that saying about too many cooks?!

OK folks, if this is going to happen again, it's going to take a hell of a lot more people than the few that have expressed an interest so far. Who else is up for it? Stev-o, I think with all the new members in TX, you ought to be able to have a GOOD turnout!

Then there is Scottly. ALWAYS to the rescue. I and II would not have been successful without my friend. Thanks!

I'm thinking this needs to be moved out into the general population section for more to view?

A regional thing sounds like fun, however it could leave out those that can't get out on the road. We need to reach out to anyone we know that is close to our locations and see how we can make more people able to be involved. Perhaps a regional relay ride to a final meeting place with the farthermost rider kicking it off? Many ways we can accomodate.

And I have my own SOHC4 to ride this year!  ;D

Assuming I'm still in Michigan this summer, I can coordinate/participate in the "Great Lakes, Great Rides" region!!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I'd be willing to get something together here in So. Ca. and ride Zilla to the next gathering spot if possible.

Of course I am down for something.  I have a couple of 750's now so I think I could keep up better.

There is the Bike's Blue's and BBQ rally in Fayetteville AR that might be a good place for folks from Southern MO, South East Kansas, Western OK and Arkansas to do a ride in .. they have a parade of power, and maybe we could get a bunch of SOHC folks to ride together through the parade.

If that doesn't work out, I am sure I can do some meet ups anywhere as long as work or honey-dos don't get in the way.

Alright, thanks for the responses. If zilla does indeed make Texas in Mid April, probably makes sense to keep heading west. We'd had issues finding NM riders so maybe he will brown truck it to AZ by the end of April.

I'll try & give you a hand on this side of the border, Bruce.  I think it makes sense for MI & ON to coordinate on a Great Lakes meet, IMO.

I was just kidding.. I didn't figure it was a private relay..

I knew that and had read between the lines. Kidding right back at'cha! I was pretty sure it would take some major forces to keep you from participating.  8)

There is a faithful bunch of riders here in the Southeast. I'm sure we can coax more than one out for a ride!  8)

Once the 2013 board is set up, the first order of business should be to start a rider sign-up list, IMHO. We can then post links on all the other boards pointing to it. Lets see how many folks are interested before we resort to the dreaded brown truck. ;)

New guy here so not much room to say but it would be cool if we could pull off the ride from location to location like you all have done in the past. I like the idea of a "meet up" at each spot as that brings more bikes and riders together, but along with a ride to the next meet up would be the #$%*.
