I emailed a couple of the Northern CA riders and one true So Cal rider (GreenHornet)  hopefully they will respond and we can actually have a CA contingency

I'm thinking we can meet up halfway down the Cal coast for the hand-off.  Or, if you want to ride the coastline, Monterey or Santa Cruz.

I can take it up the coast from there toward Oregon, or head towards Reno-ish.

I'm not too enamored with riding on a really strict timetable.  And, I have no intentions of racing anyone.

Hey, hey, hey, I'm new to the forum but an old dog that rides in So.Ca.

I just saw a possible May time frame for Ca. so I'm in, my bike will be finished and I'll ride.

It's a little 400 so I'm won't be riding fast but I will be riding.

I like the discussion.........I agree with listing the possible events for each state or region. You could even create an annual theme......AMA pro racing circuit.....AHRMA vintage racing circuit.........Major bike shows and Auctions......National Park rides.......top-ten (or 25) roads to ride in NA.......Drag Races.......and of course everybody should schedule a trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats.

For 2012 the bike events on my list are: April & May swap-meets; June 1-2 AMA races at RA; June 6-7-8-9 AHRMA races and swap meet at RA;  June 14-15 AMCA & VJMC weekend meet in ST. Paul; July 18-21 VMD at Mid-Ohio; August ??? RockerBox in Milwaukee; August 21 Leave for BUB Landspeed at Bonneville Salt Flats; August 30th Vintage Flat Track at Davenport, IA, on return trip from Bonneville; October 9-13 Barber Vintage Motorcycle Festival.

Anyone want to join the fun ;)

I'll see if I can work up a preliminary route/schedule this weekend.

That would be great.   So FL-GA-AL? Do we have any AL or MS riders yet?  I'd like zilla to hit Hou, TX by mid April if possible. The Architect [Chris] and 'cyco [Tom] are in.

I am in Al and can make it to GA, TN, MS or FL.  Have made the last two GZ tours and in both cases I was on a leg from Birmingham to somewhere in Mississippi, but am flexible depending on the route and dates.  I have a friend locally who just got a 350 and a 550.  I will ask if he wants to get involved too.  I hope that the Birmingham regulars sign up too, hint hint jtb...

Kpier - glad to have you aboard, your the first AL rider.  Can you touch base with Bluto in GA? (see reply #44 in this thread).   Seems to make the most sense for zilla to stay south to avoid freezing so early n the year.  Thx

Im liking the ideas of meeting up @ different rally points, kind of like Oldscrambler and Seanbarney suggested.  With a smaller list of volunteer riders to do a relay hand-off, meeting a different rally points, swap meets, events, races, etc... might be a better bet.

Either way...I'm in.

Am planning on attending Rockerbox again this year.  That means GZ has a ride from Omaha to WI again.

Anyone good with computers, that can post a calendar of events?  Would be easy to scan over different months and people can make plans to meet-up @ different events.

Come on!  We're burning daylight!

Hey Georgia Riders,

First, let me say that I am not the spokesperson for the Alabama riders, but I am the only Al. rider I know of at this time.  Hopefully there will be others!

I was wondering if the Georgia riders would be interested in meeting up at the FDR Sate Park in Georgia for a handoff to the Alabama gang?  Maybe have an overnight campout and then GZ could head back to Birmingham?

For anyone on the Alabama side, I have mapped out a potential route that begins in the Birmingham area, includes Al. 25 up and over the mountain just outside Leeds as well as state route 77 which looks like it might be nice.  Googls says this is 180 miles, about a 4.5 hour drive, but I'd expect more like 6 to 7 in a group and on motorcycles as we gas up and stop more.   We could camp at FDR Park with the GA bunch and talk motorcycles.

Here is a link to the proposed route.  Hopefully the link will work:

http://goo.gl/maps/iiBg9

Bluto, I think you are one of the GA riders, have you started figuring out your route?

Maybe you're just not used to the song of the cb400f yet... you've got a whole extra gear than our baby 350s!   ;)
I've run sustained 8k RPM, sometimes you just gotta wring it out!    ;D

yep wind them up and run them hard.. they usually take it fine.  I haven't been out on mine since the relay miles either.  I need to put on a new chain and sprockets.  but this year i plan to join the big boys on the 750s .. if it works out I might put a few miles on the 350 too
