OK.

When do you start with your bike?
My bike?
I started to do something with it 2012, assembly started 2013.
OK coming spring. OEM look but 4-1 and other small changes. My avatar is how it looked like 1984-2009 when photo was taken after almost 19 years in a barn/hen house. Back to my garage 2010.

Wish I could buy a house around my way for that, lol. Tear downs are in the $4-500,000 range out here on the west coast, I'd have a couple properties if that was the case.

Like many here are questioning, will the winning bidder be a legit bidder. No disrespect or discredit to the legit bidders intended.  Correct me if I'm wrong please, but Anybody can bid, collecting the money is another thing.

He will sell it.   Even if it is not on ebay, he'll get that money.   It's a one-of-a-kind.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

It is my hope that only legit bidders are involved. For the sake of the seller, considering the fees that ebay will collect and his time spent and many things.  It is fun to watch as the bike is continuing to make history even today.  :)

And then there's the K0 diecast production bike on as well, presently at $11,000. From 20 feet, looks like the prototype. That's cool to see also.

Record setting for sure...you get a few bidders on ebay where money is not a big deal to them. The only thing that means anything to them is that proto-sandcast and having it in the garage. Once those high bidders start going there is no telling where this will end up. I agree the last 3 minutes could be fun to watch. I wonder why Vic decided to sell it after all these years? I guess he is getting up there in age and figures time to move it before his time is up...

As he was astute enough to singlehandedly create the whole US interest in sandcasts & the market for them, I guess he also knows when to get out of it.

The listing makes it pretty clear that Vic doesn't own the prototype bike, but did the restoration/refresh job, and maybe sharing the profit from the sale.

Tough to say... more than 10....  :)  haha... Ive no clue.

Have to admit, I've copied most of the photos.  This auction is the closest I'll ever get to a prototype.  Just a hunch.... :)

In the E-bay description of this bike they say that one of these prototypes was crushed in 1990. Why? By 1990 that was a very collectible machine with all its history. Why would American Honda not want to have it saved for historical reasons? I guess I just don't understand big business.

Never thought of that but my seller wanted payment. Then wanted to cancel the transaction.

Nagged about selling it cheap. Will still  take a labor of love and bridgestone  dealer to ever run.

The pissing contests are over. 26 hours left. It's time for the serious money guys to begin betting on their hands. I hope to be watching as it pops in the last 6 seconds when the bidding bots do their thing. I'm thinking a little posturing before then. There's probably 3 or 4 guys out there that won't bid until that last minute.

I say $175,000 gets it.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

My guess is that there is about a 6:1 watcher to bidder ratio. There are 25 unique bidders at the moment, so that should be around 150 watchers or so (mostly from this forum  ;) )

Time to get the popcorn out and enjoy the rest of the show.

Something for mythbusters:

"......One thing, this bike sure runs extremely fast from a stop sign!....I'm of the notion that it's (partly) due to the 26mm carbs.....That smaller venturi size of course raises the intake velocity (maybe it's why Honda chose 28s for production)...this bike was too fast!..."

Doc, I love a motorcycle!
