I also got the DOW high vacuum grease, which I am guessing is fine to use around this piston also?

The Dow grease is for the back of the pad to prevent pad squealing.

sorry I meant "around" as in might come in contact with.  it will be on the back of the pad which will touch the end of the piston (correct?) I just wanted to make sure the is was still ok to use there considering the new piston material.

I got to meet Bryan aka Blac at his shop this morning.  What an amazing shop space!  The bike looks fantastic in person.  The subframe looks great and Cliff Meyer's seat fits it like a glove.  Parts are coming in and this bike is going to be awesome.

Thanks Don! It was great meeting you today. We will have to take the (running) bikes out for a cruise sometime!

Once I get my crank back from APE, my monoshock from Racetech  and my pistons/cylinder/head back from Mike.. this thing will be coming together pretty quickly.  At a standstill now but I did go through every shaft in the transmission today.

Completely disassembled, cleaned, lubed and reassembled them.

All clean!

I washed all of these shafts, washers, bearings and gears with a "chem dip parts cleaner" I then rinsed them off and rubbed them down with a light coat of wd-40.  As I assembled them back onto the shaft of which they came, I used a little bit of assembly lube and motor oil (just to keep them coated).

does all of that sound kosher?  just ckecking to make sure I havent done something stupid before I put them back into the cases  :-X

Im trying to avoid things like "YOU WIPED WD40 ON THE TRANSMISSION GEARS!? NO WONDER IT EXPLODED"   :P

Where did you pick up your rotor by the CB550 disc conversion? I want to make sure I"m getting the right one as well.

Did mounting hardware also come with your P32 - or did you just have spare hardware?

Its a standard GSXR750 rear rotor spec. Choose any source and spend what you are willing. The caliper hardware was ordered (Devin gave me the specs).

FYI - Cognitomoto's website for the hub identifies a DUCATI Monster 400 600 620 750 800 888 9001000 rotor.  That said, IF Cal says a GSXR rotor fits, they both likely work with the hub.

I have not been following this thread...but seeing your trans gears/shaft there make me want to say that having my trans back-cut was one of the best things I have done to my bike...

Its a standard GSXR750 rear rotor spec. Choose any source and spend what you are willing. The caliper hardware was ordered (Devin gave me the specs).

FYI - Cognitomoto's website for the hub identifies a DUCATI Monster 400 600 620 750 800 888 9001000 rotor.  That said, IF Cal says a GSXR rotor fits, they both likely work with the hub.

Interesting... I inspected all of the gears and none of the dogs showed any wear (or marks for that matter) so I assumed I would be fine leading them stock.  What about having them back-cut improved the bike so much? Were you having issues with it popping out of the lower gears?

Just got a call from APE, crank and studs are done and being shipped today!

In other exciting news, I am headed to Iceland (for the third time) in a couple months and just ordered this to take with me.. I will be sure to have some tracking/follow shots done once my bike is done also  8)

I was just in Toronto for the International Flyfishing Film Festival. The Iceland submission "The Hidden" was amazing. Science fiction beautiful!

I'm taking my girlfriend with me to celebrate my 30th birthday and our anniversary.  We are rolling them into one shebang.

I have been to Iceland before and it is absolutely the most beautiful, diverse and unique landscape I have ever seen.  Cam like you said it does look alien, when you are there you are constantly saying "this does not look like earth".

I'll dig up some photos of my last couple trips and post them here ;)
