Okay, I'm gonna be blunt.

Been following DGR on facebook since I registered.

Aaaannnnddd I think they've lost sight of their own mission goal.

While its great they've hit the $1m fundraising mark.  They are pushing hard for the cash grab.
They're pushing their prize incentives even harder.
They're having an all call for videographers and sharing really hip motorcycle photos.

But NOT ONCE have they truly tried to spark a convo about prostate cancer.
And they avoid almost all talk of the big bad "S" word.

Even though preventing the big "S" is mission objective charlie.

They havent shared much other than their fundraising and lifestyle stuff.
It's kind of put me off the whole idea.

I could save a fist ful of money on a suit and a sketchy long freeway ride by buggering off and doing my own thing to raise suicide prevention awareness.

Thats just how I feel about the suit and tire affair.

Bomber,

I don't blame you.  I have not been as inspired as with years past.  I guess I better get of my tuckus and raise some lucre for the cause.

How do I find out details on the Austin ride?  I visited the website but states I have to be registered to see the details. There are 89 riders.

I'd like to do the ride but unsure at this point if I can next Sunday.

Thanks

What I want to really know is would I be able to ride my pennyfarthing whilst twirling my ironic moustache?

If you can't answer that question then... Poppycock!

I'm going to get a temporary ironic mustache from the local costume shop for the event. I don't have the patience to grow one long enough to wax the ends.

My local value village had some massive (10" wide) foam 'stache's in their halloween selection.

At $10 i'm tempted to pick one up to hang off the headlight.

Had a great time on the Los Angeles DGR today.  We had approximately 1,000 riders.
Thanks to all of my sponsors, I raised $6,976.00 so far.

When is the Orlando event? Don't feel like registering just to see the schedule and end up getting spammed into oblivion for something I could possibly not be able to participate in anyway...

Just curious.

A humble $271 - but a proud feat for a small town punk.
Your waistcoat is too short. Major sartorial faux pas.  >:( Good thing JWilde has gone on walkabout, he'd rip you to shreds over that transgression...

It's an off the rack suit from *good*man & *will*iams.  Criticize all you want.
Jwilde would probably get too caught up in the fashion show too.

The idea of DGR is to put a polished look on some of the darkest, most depressing, and highly stigmatized aspects of men's health.  I rode in memory of people I've lost, and in blatant defiance of my own battle.
When a man battles prostate cancer, the jolly roger may never rise again.  Awful side effect of the treatment. The shame and the loss of life's basic pleasure led one fellow i worked with to take his own life.
Another friend and kinsman called it curtains after a decade long battle with multiple co-current mental illnesses.
So by all means criticize tuxedo bib and placement of the cummerbun,  the legth of the trouser and width of the legs.  Playing dress up was not the motivation behind my participation.

It was majestic as hell seeing 300+ bikes headed north on Lake Shore Drive yesterday filling all four lanes of travel.
