Manufacturers Cup 2017
« on: February 02, 2017, 08:33:51 am »
Hot off the presses!  ;)  ;)  ;)

Reliable sources have confirmed that Cycle-X will be the sponsor of the Super Eliminator Class at the finals in November at Valdosta!  :o

Will certainly include a booth on the Midway to show off an unbelievable array of new GO FAST parts they will be introducing this year!  :o  ;)  8)

I would strongly suspect that also means their plans include having BOTH of their Top Secret Dragbikes broken in and finely tuned prior to that event.  ;)  8)

Disclaimer: I am not an employee of Cycle-X but I am always grateful to the guys in the business that continue to support our incurable disease.  ;D

That's great news. Hopefully all of you prospective record setting racers will be in attendance with your bikes. Should be an interesting way to end the season.

Okay, to prevent further hijacking of Bill's thread, here's a quick run down of my efforts so far this weekend:
>Seven timed runs in test-n-tune yesterday. Personal best of 13.21 with a 20mph head wind
>Three passes today, 13.004, 13.059, 13.043 on 12.99 dial has been good enough to get me to round three!
>Helped Larry Hayes brother fabricate a chain guard after he failed tech for not having one at all
>Helping Bill finalize assembly of his Super Eliminator entry
>Fixed a broken electrical/vacuum control switch for Trey who is here running Street Fighter class on a 'Busa
>Just finished helping Larry Romig retrieve his keys from within his locked vehicle

So far just another typical race weekend! ;-)

Well done Wilbur, if that head wind drops, you'll be in the 12s so might want to lower that 12.99 dial a little.

Fairing is definitely a plus.

.015 RT in round three could not overcome my late 1-2 shift which hit the revlimiter just as I made the shift  13.207 on the 12.99 dial cost me the round by .0551. :-(

Time to start drinking and get ready for tomorrows win! 8-)

Jerry, it's not about going quicker, it's about being consistent.
I didn't hear if the head wind dropped but the temperature went up from the 50s to the 80s, I'm not sure if the late change was why Wilbur dropped from low 13s to a 13.2 but the temperature rise could knock you back a couple of 10ths easily.

Well, its not been my bed weekend so far. I redlighted first round eliminations. Came back for second round a little gun shy about pushing the tree, I left my dial in from the round before at a 10.54. I turned my prestsge bulb on and slowly brought the rpms up but not quite as high as  had the round before. I rolled into the stage bulb and the tree came down. I left the line and got no red light this time but I felt I was a tad late on the light. I also knew my launch wasn't the best but I  laid down on the bike and tried to hit my shift points, my opponent was a full second quicker so I knew it would come down to the stripe. I looked back a few times and he was closing the gap. Unfortunately he caught me right before the mph done and I knew had screwed up in my reaction time and maybe missed the dial in. He crossed the line first and I noticed his win light on the wall. Crap. Picked up my time slip at the booth and I was a tenth off ny dial in with a.061 light. My opponent cut a .001 light and was about .03 off his dial in.  Hmm, so ended my day on the Honda in street ET. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Rev limiter kicks in right around 9500. I try to shift around 9000 to 9200.

I'm going on Facebook to adress just that tomorrow!  Craziness,  Wilbur should have 20 pts more than me etc. Stupidest pts system,  put them on the trailer , you should get points, period, end of conversation!

I tried to tell you guys about this last year. I guess its like Billy and the bottom end noise and the comment I made to him afterwards; No one listens to the black guy. Lol.

Seriously, the points system as it exists definitely screws the person who win his/ her round out of earned points. If I win a round and send a guy home, then I need to be compensated via an award of points. This should happen when I win 2nd round since I spread paid for the first round buyback in my entry fees.

Bill and I talked about the unbalanced points system at the end of last season with intentions to collectively address the concerns with the man cup  officials. Time caught up with both of us and
we never got around to it. Nows the time. CB

Well, although I couldn't buy a round in any of the four classes I entered this weekend I did manage one accomplishment. I lowered my own record in the  super eliminator class. It's still a soft number at 10.53😉. Next race, the index listed on the board for the CB/SS bikes will be ,10.48 based on the 1% breakout rule. I fully intend to have my engine freshened up by then with all new stainless valves versus the heavier stock valves. I'm going to be forced to bore up to 73mm this time to get the bore back into spec. Hoping for quicker passes on the red bike and to have the nitrous f model project bike ready by then.

I attached several of my elimination pass tickets. I ran back to back 10.53's in super eliminator. Not bad for consistency. The other ticket shows my first round top gas loss. I ran under the index but so did my opponent. My 8.18 to his 8.19 netted a double breakout but he was a little closer to the index.

Oh well, not the best results for me this weekend but I had fun.
