Where to get my engine rebuilt?
« on: August 12, 2017, 05:43:46 PM »
Does anyone know of a shop or someone near Omaha, Nebraska (preferably within a 4-5 hour drive) that is skilled at rebuilding these engines?  I have found a small shop in Kansas City that seems interested, but they don't normally do full engine rebuilds so I'm thinking it might end up being pricier than going to someone who rebuilds these all-day long, and it also won't be done as well.

I'm willing to make the drive if someone knows some experts.

Thank you

I'm going to second Mark Paris in Colorado.

His knowledge and skill with these engines is tough to beat.

Like Cal said, you could set it up that you exchange a motor Mark already has built for yours.

Which engine? Mark might have a good CB750 on the shelf.

You would likely be very happy with Mark's work, I've even got his book. You could also consider Cycle One in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Red does excellent work there. Call them up and talk to Kate:

Make it an overnighter to either one and you'll have some time to hang around the shop!

If your having Mark work on your engine, bring your swingarm along for a rebuild as well. ;)

Thanks to all of you. :)
A recommendation to you easily checked all the boxes, Mark:

Drive distance - Check
Knowledgeable, experienced - Check
Reputable - Check
Honest - Check
Willing and able - Check
Strong references - Check
Sexy - Check

Seems a foregone conclusion that you would be his very best choice with the above criteria. And if memory serves correctly, you are more available now due to work life change - Check  ;) :)

Added another one :))

But yes, to the OP, definitely don't trust your motor to a shop who will "give it a go". They'll skimp and it'll be worse off than before. Mark knows his sh!t and we're all lucky to have him on the forum. Read through the FAQ if you're interested and see all the info he's posted.

Mark is a celebrity on here!

Thanks for everyone's help. All my concerns are now gone regarding this engine rebuild. Now I just need to find some time to drive down to him.
