Thanks Cal! My sister in Raleigh is already freaking out trying to get us to bug out to her place.    My luck the storm would turn and make a beeline for Raleigh if I did. We'll be boarding up and "hunkering down". Just a little wind and rain, we're staying put. May need to stock up on ammo to keep the looters at bay! 

Are you assisting with the evacuation of New Port Richey on Saturday? If the current storm track holds they will likely be evacuating the coasts on Saturday (or sooner). Give me a call if you have any problems. You will likely see outer bands of squalls on Saturday, even as far North as Port Richey. Hopefully by Friday the storm track forecast will be well clear of Central Florida...

Actually heading down with my 19yo to my Moms to drag her car back here to be serviced. Local spot wanted $1,400 to replace 3 motor mounts! They saw an old lady and thought they'd find their retirement. Pricks

Preparations continue. Clearing potential wind driven missiles from the yard today and tomorrow, probably start boarding up tomorrow and Friday. Get drunk Friday night and wait for the storm to hit Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Not venturing very far today to try and avoid being a hindrance to coastal evacuees. I hope everyone finds secure shelter and that people remain calm. People are a little frantic, but we haven't heard of any real incidents of "Storm rage"...

I have a couple of friends in Miami who are preparing for the surge.  Apparently, it's been extremely difficult to get out (gas shortages and traffic).

Yep. The decision to leave everything behind is certainly a difficult one, but a decision that has to be made early. I've seen several estimates that to completely evacuate South Florida completely would take almost four days. They cannot accurately predict a storm's path that far in advance. I started preparations to shelter in place late last week.

Both Wednesday and Thursday I endured stop and go traffic headed North on Florida's Turnpike on my way to work at 6:00 A.M. both days. I had already decided on Tuesday that I would not be working today to prevent being a hindrance to the evacuation process as well as giving me another full day to prepare.

Woo-Hoo! No damage here. Lots of water (none in the house), power out, we're safe and doing better than many others. Sustained winds over 80mph for hours with gusts over 100mph... damn what a noisy storm!

Generator online so we have some lights and running water (need power to run the well pump). Drinking to commence this afternoon!

Looks like the Keys and the islands took a serious beating but the mainland was largely spared.  Jacksonville is flooding right now but not on the scale of Houston.

They lost power, but have a generator hooked to the house, but lost cell service shortly after that.
Havent heard about my brother's townhome or boat yet...he's at his other home in CO.

My Uncle Tony has a condo near there on Marco Island, amazingly enough, there is no damage to it.  They did not have to ride it out, they are snow birds and still in NY.
