Man Cup participants,2018
« on: January 17, 2018, 09:40:38 pm »
I ask this question every year so why change now. Who plans to run the Cup series this year, what classes do you intend to run and will you make all of the races??

Its winter time - the crazy season so lets hear what's in the works.

I'll probably do no more than 3 of the Cup races. I  intend to run street ET and super eliminator. I hope to run NHRA brackets at either Atlanta Dragway or our local track that just changed over from IHRA to NHRA sanctioning. Trying to stay close to home this season.

Sounds good Bill. I decided to regroup a little this season and not chase the Man Cup series like we've done over the years. I can say that i consistently finished in the top ten in most of the classes I raced except this past season. That's just not good enough for me right now, so I'm going to step back and get some local seat time. Besides, Running 3-4 classes at the Cup with no sponsor can get costly.

I'll see you at Commerce March 10.  By the way, NHDRO has a big race there on April 13-15 this year. Should be a nice turnout.

Yes Mark, we'll make the Galot race as well as Rockingham. Not certain if we'll attend the season opener though.

Ok, Frank and Bill,

I have moved to Plant City, Florida.  Since I have vacated Atlanta Dragway, you two better get your butts up there and give the ProBike class some much needed bodies.  I'm going to miss that place alot, but family issues dictated the move.  I plan on racing at Bradenton mostly, maybe Orlando and Gainesville some. I do hope to make some of the ManCup events, mostly Valdosta and maybe Galot with my good friend Jim French and Mike Hughes.  I may be old, but I'm still raring to compete.  Hope to see you guys soon!

Fletcher,

So you did make that Florida move per our last conversation. Hope everything goes well with the family. You'll have lots of opportunities to race down that way. Glad you're planning to still run the Man Cup series so we'll get to hang out with you still. Our current plans are to make as many of the commerce races as possible. We can't let your nemesis, Tim Sutton, get away with easy wins now that you're gone😁.

See ya soon my friend.

FRANK: You will see me at Valdosta in the Spring 2018, hope that pain goes away as I had a problem years ago with that same nerve [ to much downhill racing on Skis out West and a fall on Peak 10 at 10,000 feet in Breckenridge, Colorado ] lucky I lived thru that fall !!!!

To quote a title from a Robert Cray song and twisting the last word- The forecast calls for rain(uhhh, pain) Lol. The reality is it will be painful to sit in the trailer all Saturday and watch the ground getting wet. Approaching time to make some decisions.

I think I've got the wife's bike ready. Had to freshen up the head. Got it all buttoned up tonight. I'll start it up tomorrow and tune in the carbs. Haven't touched any of my bikes yet 😠. Should have time to get one checked over tomorrow night and then we've got to load up for the race.

Dennis is saving a parking space for someone's RV. Look for the WI plates on a Ford E450 Four Winns before the finish line on the grass. He's next to Larry Hayes.

I got the wife's bike fired up and did a quickie shop tune on the Lectrons. I'll fine tune it trackside. She's on the fence about racing this weekend so I might enter it in the 8.90, super comp class. I'm all loaded but excluded the Honda this time. I'm bringing the ZX 10 for street fighter and street et. My top gas bike was already in the trailer so I've got more than enough bikes to keep me busy. I'll try to mount my go pro and upload a few passes.

There are 4 Sohc street bikes on the property and one full tilt, turbo dragbike. Wilbur, Larry Romig and two of Bill's bikes. Bill did get his bike started yesterday and the new engine sounds fine. He didn't make any test passes but Trey took purple rain down the track a few times. He had problems with the airshifter so he foot shifted it after that. I think he told me it ran mid 11's.

Unfortunately, the rain moved in this morning just as they called street ET to the lanes. Everyone had to scramble back to their pit area. It looks to be a set in rain with multiple ban's of moderate to heavy downpour throughout the day. In a nutshell, Saturday is a washout. Hopefully we can get a full days race in for Sunday.

I entered 3 classes myself. Top gas (8.20 index), Street fighter (9.50index) and one day of street ET. We did get our 2 qualifying passes for the index classes done Friday so the ladder will be set for Sunday eliminations based on those numbers since the 3rd pass for today won't be happening. I've got no clue where I placed on the ladder but I'll find out this afternoon once the sheets are posted.

Working on perfecting a consistent launch first. When I can consistently put down at least a .0XX reaction time then we’ll talk about stepping up performance. 😉
