Ok, cause when im in traffic and i get launched in the air (im referring mostly to the ones on lakeshore drive) i feel like an idiot and like my bike shouldn't be on the road lol.
yeah, it makes you feel ridiculous.  ...but I bet if you saw video there would not be as much movement as you felt.  That said, it's been years since I rode Lakeshore.  I don't like Chicago anymore.  Much prefer the spaciousness of Detroit.

I know chicago well enough to time it right, its got rush hour and its light traffic just like any other city. When most people complain about it its usually different circumstances but its a cluster #$%*. I love it though, I love the view heading in, I love the CRAZY shift in aggressive driving, if there is an opening in traffic, you take it, because the surrounding cars are all thinking the same thing, so no need to sit around waiting to make sure they "see you" I love being on a bike and being surrounded by sky scrapers, I love seeing a million sailboats and a million people on the beach on the other side. I love Detroits openness (i think of that episode of the grand tour when they stop in Detroit), idk how many people actually ride in the city but its empty, 60% of the buildings are closed, there is no traffic, wide open roads, great views if you know where you are going. Riding thought the rough parts of the city are worth it to me because of the little hidden parks and canals, the hidden indian village historic homes and mansions that still stand strong, belle isle, mexican village....love it all.

I love catching gratiot from 16 mile all the way downtown on off night around midnight, all green lights the entire way, if i get a red i run it cause its detroit...sooooo who cares.

yeah, city stuff is cool...I just don't like being around many people anymore, and I feel this more the older I get.  Chicago, and most other big cities, are just too densely populated.  That is one of the uniquely beautiful things about Detroit.
If it works good, it looks good...

My tail light broke off again, partly because I forced it back and forth by bending it to straighten it out after i welded it on kinda crooked....The other night when i got home I noticed it was loose then it broke right off in my hand, nice clean break and fit back together like a puzzle. Im telling you this because I used the JB weld super glue and rode over 200 miles, I cant believe my taillight is rock solid. If anyone is wondering about a super glue, use that stuff. I let it cure for 24 hours and used a lot of it but the fact that I gave it a bs Cleaning with a file on both surfaces and stuck it together amazes me. I was reaching back and feeling for it after potholes to see if it was still there, or flopping around. Nope, ROCK SOLID.

I bought Rox 2" adjustable risers, they run about 90 bucks but they have lots of range. I was having a hard time deciding if i should buy that or the steering damper but the damper sold out, so it made things a little easier.

I found some scrap tube in the garage, enough to do at least 50% of a rack if not a whole one so that makes me happy. Ive got about 3-4k miles on this bike now with no hick ups, used kick start most of the day when i remembered to do so.

changed the oil today
I need a new seal around the oil tank lid. The 350-4 18" front fender mounting holes are the same pattern as on the 750 fork lowers, so this fender should bolt right on no problem. Since doing anything with the fender requires me to drop the wheel and removing calipers, Im not in any rush to swap it out. Im in the middle of my buddies bike, we have the motor out and open, the gasket was leaking so im ordering a new one, I got some new fork tubes for the bike as well and starting rebuilding those today, need to put the new seals in and springs/fluid. I took all of the stock fork hardware off and running an open fork, I have some new chrome cheap fork ears that will do the trick for now, I still have to go to the store and find the flat/military green he wants for the tank and side covers. Still have to order forward controls, different handle bars and we should be good to go. He has an 836 kit in this bike with a grinded R/C race cam, it likes to pull. This bike is going to be a sleeper...Ill include some pictures of his bike below. It’s not going to be too ugly or too nice.

I wont know until i test them out. I see them on much more powerful modern motorcycles so i assume it can handle the 750.

Rox is top shelf material and excellent quality. Popular with adventure bike crowd. You should not have any issues if they are secure.
They are not inexpensive though ...

They are not inexpensive though ...

everything else was so limiting, the range these provide is just amazing. The quality is great as well.

Lol, I ordered this yesterday morning. These lane splitters are NICE.

I forgot to order the linkages, #$%*in a

Edit:

linkages are in, the forward controls are mocked up, the valve cover is back on the motor and ready to go back in, I got some paint to see the dents.

Funny thing is, that is the color he wants with some white stripes like an old school military fighter plane. star and stripes kinda deal.. I bought some satin finish 2k clear coat for it.I replaced the gauge backing covers because the ones that were on his bike were beat to crap and he has chrome covers other already, they were just dirty. I gave them a good polish and put them back on. I initially installed his truck lite lamp incorrectly with the stock honda light assembly, it was cock eyed before but got the headlight assembly on correctly this time around. The motor is going to get its finned sanded all the way around. We installed the gasket with the larger diameter holes and added the oil rings, hopefully we dont get another leak. Phil also helicoiled and addition 4 times before closing it all up. Ive be searching high and low for white walls but its just not happening, he settled for large white letters if no white wall.

The TC Bros kit is really nice for what it is, im going to buy a set of forward controls for the chopper and probably restore that this winter.

August 6th is the projected date for this bike to be test ridden and tweaked and ready to move to Georgia with its owner.

waiting for a new seat cover, fork seals, grips, new cables. - This is the easiest to keep track of the bikes that delay me from mine.

yes, plenty of bite. They come with spacers too to make sure everything fits snug. I have readjusted the bars back more directly over the original bar placement, having it swung too far forward towards me and over the tank disrupted the the transfer through the fork, my steering felt a little "behind".

its much better now, and I love the extra height.

Bike is coming along on my buddies bike, just hanging everything on there, about to make the modifications for the forward controls. I’ve never used a satin clear coat, I dislike it.

I’m going to add two inch risers then the tubes will be able to slip through more if the owner wants it that way.

I changed the sprocket/chain cover on my 750. It was grey matching the motor covers but I put a gloss black one in there instead.

My search of the white wall tires and raised white lettering tires is over, I gave up. The bikes owner also just said #$%* it, lets get what we can, which is nothing.lol.

I stetted on some bridgestonel spitfires, I liked them when i ran them on my 550 a coupe years ago. The front tire had a white raised letters options so I got that and if he wants to use a paint pen or tire marker he is more than welcome. The paint job came out like #$%* but he can sticker the tank or do whatever he wants. I put some fresh black paint and gloss clear on his motor after Phil finished it, I sanded the fins and cleared over them as well. I ordered the 3 lock combo from 4into1 for the ignition, seat, and steering lock. Since he is moving to a new state with this bike, he might as well make sure he can keep it secure. Im going to paint the forward control hardware now that mods are done, just going to rattle can them black and call it done.

I need to install tires, throttle cables, controls, secure tail light, secure rear signals, tighten seat strap, replenish oil, new fuel lines, fire it up.

Its 16 hours to their new house in Georgia, I might ride and deliver the bike.

I put my fairing back on my bike, moved my front turn signals from the fork ears to the fairing itself. One of my mixture screws was buried while the others were correct, been battling a rising idle at stop on and off, almost ready to build myself a proper rack.

I just ordered my steering damper for the bracket I bought over a month ago.

Right now im figuring out the sweet spot with the fork pre loads with the extra weight of the fairing. Im working from way too hard to just a little bouncy right now...These preload adjuster should be on every SOHC if you dont have an upgraded front end. Another thing I dont like much is the aftermarket valve caps im using weep a little, which i knew about....Im just simply wiping off the motor and its not much but its still there. Looks like my rear is rear to be changed out already, it was old rubber anyway.

I rode Phils 2018 fat bob, I think im going to be wanting a modern bike soon. Not a harley, but something.

Here are some better pictures, deleting the other ones. Installed the new damper, it made A HUGE difference, I’m happy I have it especially using the fairing. My crooked tail light looked horrible, but its getting fixed when i build this rack for the top box. The height that I have the fairing is perfect for keeping wind off of my body but its everything coming off the top is hitting my helmet. I dont want to go any higher because of esthetics, If I were to tour it  longer than 6 hours then I would raise it all by the fork ears so the wind would be passing over my head. I also hard mounted my RAM phone mount and holder to the top of the fairing, I removed the windshield, drilled two holes and used th stock mount. My phone sits right at the top in the middle now....my cock pit is clutter free now. I also added two amber running lights on the front of the fairing, they are not hooked up yet.

edit: After doing about 100 miles last night zipping out to and around ann arbor, I LOVE THE DAMPER. Im shocked more people dont recommend using them but i figured everyones set up is very different or just dont know any better (noobs). It took all of the slop that was always bothering right out, looks like the third setting is where im going to keep it. I know they put a counter weight on the goldwings because the fairing would create lift, im trying to figure out what im feeling when im going over 85-90mph on the freeway, the front end just feels lighter so im thinking its lifting...but idk. Im not sure I ever packed the front wheel bearings....I think i only did the rear wheel. Im wondering if im feeling something like that.

Ill prolly think about selling the bike at the end of the season.

If you do, tell the person who buys it to continue posting pictures of it here now and then, because I will miss it, especially pictures without the fairing. 😄😎
